Due to the unselfish efforts of Thomas Bublitz, Glenn Petry and Larry Taylor, a new pre. s box was erected last Saturday at the John Glenn athletic field. This generous gesture, plus Gil Fujawa's charges fine showing in the New Prairie Jamboree last Friday night, are indications of a fine football season ahead for the John Glenn High School. Now. why don't YOU share in the enthusiasm generated by these three teachers and coach Fujawa, Crousore and Keene, by being a spectator at all JGHS games. Back the Falcons. SciencelW ([TOPICS Mj Coming Question: Will Computers Eventually Think? ARE COMPUTERS potentially intelligently? No one yet knows. But a University of Wisconsin computer scientist says there is away to find out. He says research is under way to discover methods of teaching computers to think. He believes computers can shed light on the actual thinking process of the mind Apparent similarities between brains and properly programmed computers are sufficiently striking so that one can begin to speculate whether computers eventually can be programmed to think. A TREMENDOUS INCREASE in the welding of nonferrous metals, such as magnesium, titanium, aluminum and zircoium, will occur in the next decade, perdicts ARC Producst Manufacturing, Hanover, Pennsylvania. The company says that many of these metals can be used in application, such as space frames where their ligth weight and high strength are desirable. Some will ba used in the manufacture of trucks becauce reducing the weigth of a truck's body will enable it to carry more cargo and still meet restrictions on highways. Some .trucking firms already hre putting wheels made of magnesium on their vehicles as one method of decreasing the weight of trucks. gene or set of genes for another, is one of the ways in which heredity can be controlled, reports a University of Chicago biologist. He said that although geneticists cannot yet mold human progeny, they can control some aspects of bacterial heredity. Molecular geneticits can determan successfully the genetic fate of unborn bacteria by injecting normal bacteria cell cultures with genetic material extraced from bacteria that have acquired, by mutation, a resistance to antibiotics such as streptomyci nand erthromycin.
