Last Thursday afternoon and evening guests of Mrs. Nellie Purdy were her niece, Mrs. Elben Gentner of South Bend and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Norris of Chicago. Mr. Victor Lisiecki and son, Victor Jr., of St. Petesburg, Florida returned to their home after spending thuee weeks visiting his sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Knowlton. Mrs. Warner Clark, Mrs. Ralph Smith and Mr. and Mis. Cloyd Smith visited in Chicago Sunday with Mr. Ralph Smith who is a patient in the Presbyterian St. Lukes Hospital. Enroute home they stopped in Gary and called on Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Smith. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Adkins,
Sandie and Candance q^turned last Friday from a two week vacation. They were in various places in West Virginia visiting relatives and enroute home visited in Toledo and Johnstown, Ohio with other relatives Rev. and Mrs. David Owen and family' of .Detroit, Michigan. Rev. Owen is pastor of the Presbyterian Church in Detroit. They left Sunday afternoon to continued their vacation camping in the southern part of the state of Indiana. Mr. and Mrs. Bud Hunt celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary Sunday evening by entertaining at a seven o’clock dinner. Guests present were Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Bordner, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Evans, Mr and Mrs. Robert Hawkins and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Wrassi all of South Bend. A lovely gift was
presented to the Hunts’, along with their best wishes. Week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Newland wore Mr. Enos Ford and Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Willey and family of LaFayette. Otlysr guests for Sunday to celebrate the arrival of a great granddaughter, Ronda Rena Mans of Grovertown were her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Mans, Grovertown; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Newland and family. Union Mills; .Cloyd Newland and family, Kouts; Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Cripe and daughter of LaCrosse and Bryant Thornburg and wife of Dowagaic. This made five generations pre.-ent on both sides of the family for Ronda Rena. A family gathering was held Sunday in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Knowlton with a car-ry-in-dinner and corn roast enjoyed at noon Those pi esent were Mr. and Mr Jerry Heim and family, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Knowlton and family, Mr. and Mrs. Don Knowlton and family, John Roger McKuskie and family and Dennis Hooper all of South Bend. Mrs. Ernest Sanders a former Koontz Lake area resident, but now of Chicago, spent the week end with Mrs. Fern Grote. Mrs. Mike Kropff of Prairie Village. Kansas returned to her home last Friday after spending a week with Mr. and Mrs Howard Knowlton and Elaine. While here she also visited with other relatives and friends. Mrs. Kropff is the former Bonnie Knowlton. Mr. and Mrs. R. Newell's niece Miss Linda Hoffman. Scranton, Pennsylvania, with her friends, Miss Sandy Grinzi. Hughestown, Pennsylvania, Miss Carole Thomas. Glendale, Pennsylvania, Miss Justine Metrick, Watertown, Massachusettes, all of whom are teaching in Groton, Connecticutt, starting from Scranton, crossed the United States June 27th taking in all the sites and historical places, spending four days at Newport Beach, California, with her cousin, then up the West (’oast to Seattle, Washington crossing the northe.rn part of the country, then back to the east coast, stopping at Koontz Lake over the wekend to visit her aunt and uncle.

Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Dixon spent List week visiting relatives in southern Indiana and doing a bit of fishing. Air Force Sargent David Fitzgei ild returned to Offutt Air Base Sunday after spending two weeks at home. Mr. and Mrs. Milton Gerry will host the pot luck supper at the Koontz Lake Conservation Club Saturday, August 15 at 5:30 p.m. CDT. Mr. and Mrs. William Turnmire, Karen and Bill of Osage, lowa visited with her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Loren Goode several days last week. Mrs. Winslow Balluff, formerly of Nome Alaska now living in Aurora, Illinois, was a week end visitor of Dr. and Mrs. Rob ert Fenstermacher and family. Also Sunday guests of the Fenstermachers were her brother, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Rensberger of Ingleside, Texas were overnight guests of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Rensberger recently. They came to pick up their two daughters who have been spending the summer with grandparents in Pharr, Indiana, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Fredrick The Rensberger live in the town where the recent hurricane Celia struck. J heir house was severely damaged, with only the shell of their brick home left standing. All of their furniture and clothing were destroyed. Mrs. C. R. Ecker, Route 3. Walkerton, returned August 6 from E Street Hospital in Laporte where she had undergone eye surgery. Miss Cathy Lidy spent last week with her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Becker in Auburn, Indiana. Mrs. Irene Lidy spent Sunday with them and brought her daughter home. Mrs. William Clark. Route 3, is in the E Street Division Hos pital following a fall off her bicycle. She suffered severe briuses.

Mr. and Mrs. Leßoy Matz and Debbie and Mis. Hiram Peer of South Bend. Mr. and Mrs. Ervllle Kaercher and son Larry spent Saturday in Milford, Michigan attending the La Bedie reunion. GOSPEL SING A Gospel Sing will be h« id on Friday, August 14 at 8.00 p.m, featuring the Singing Grace family, the Rorie Family and the Royer Trio at the First Assembly of God on the corner of Michigan and Van Buren Streets, Walkerton. Everyone welcome. PHILATHEA CLASS The Philathea Class of the United Methodist Church will meet Thursday. August 13 at 2:00 p.m. at the Illinois Street building. PREPAREDNESS Folks who burn their bridges behind them should be expert swimmers before the start.
