Michael Ameling spent Sunday ind Monday visiting John Tarlton of Garrett. Mrs. Thelma Watts and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Walker, Chris, Claudia and Joey spent Saturday and Sunday in Stryker, Ohio visiting Mr. and Mrs. Dale Watts, Judy and Jody. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lloyd and family were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cripe and daughters at their cottage at Fish Lake. Mrs. Ralph Weine or Marietta, Georgia, Mrs. Effie Sheuman and children, Mary Ann and Eric of Ontario, California and Ima Miller of Nappanee were Monday evening supper guests of their aunt. Mrs. Marie Stahly. Mr. and Mrs. G. Metzger. Mr. and Mrs. D. Metzger and Mr. Fred Byers of Kewanna, Mrs. Anna Allen of Winamac, Mrs. Ruth Hughes of South Bend and Mrs. D'Maris Metzger of Columbia City were Sunday guests of Mrs. Bertha Urbin. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Cover and Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Fitzgerald spent the weekend in Bardstown, Benham and Fort Knox, Kentucky. While in Bardstown they saw the play "My Old Kentucky Home” and at Harrisburg they saw the play "Daniel Boone.” FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY Angie Jacobson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Jacobson, Walkerton, celebrated her first birthday with a party on July 23. Those in attendance were her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Adams and aunt Vickie, Mr. and Mrs. John Jacobson and Phil Matz. Cake and ice cream was en* joyed by all .

Mr. and Mra. Leslie Grimm of New Castle were recent visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Brown. Mrs. D. C. Germain was in Chicago from Thursday to Sunday to visit her husband who is listed in critical condition in the Veterans Hospital. The annual Kaercher reunion was held at the Erville Kaercher home, Route 2, on July 26. 21 children and 14 adults attended. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schober of Chicago and Mrs. Lillian Night of Berwyn and Miss Connie Biggins were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur DeMyer and Craig. Koontz Lake Conservation Club pot luck Saturday at 5:30 p.m. CDT, with a social hour following. Mrs. Maurice Moerman and Mrs. Wm. Michalski are hostesses. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gardner spent several days last week camping at North Muskegon, Michigan. On Saturday they came back to Edwarsburg and their son, Terry, joined them for a visit with Mrs. Gardner's brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Greiger. Mr. and Mrs. Amos Bierly returned Saturday from a few days vacation. They visited a cousin in Momence, Illinois. Mrs. Ira Lee Thomas and Becky in Centralia, Missouri and then stopped in lowa. They report crops in Indiana much better than what they saw of the other states. Mrs. Marie Stahley accompanied her grandson and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Stahley of South Bend to Nappanee where they attended the Stahly reunion. Mr. Jacque Kellogg returned to his home in New York after a visit with his mother, Mrs. Maude Kellogg who celebrated her 80th birthday this week.

Robert Erdelyi was a surgical patient last week in Pine Lake Divison hospital, LaPorte. Mrs. Edna Kenny of Morocco, Indiana is spendng this week with her cousin, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Brown. Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Williams of Plattsburg AFB, New York are visiting relatives and friends in Walkerton for several weeks before being transferred to California. Sgt. George A. Reusch and wife and two children of El Paso Texas spent last Wednesday with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bandendistel. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Schaeffer and Kent returned home from a five day vacation in Massillon, Ohio, where they visited Mr. and Mrs. Mac McCloud. Mr. and Mrs. Lyle R. Hunter of San Juan, Texas spent last week at Koontz Lake visiting his sister. Mrs. Floyd Brown and Mr. Brown. A dinner was held on Tuesday for the following guests: Mr. and Mrs. Hunter, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Berg and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Schultz and family of Hamlet: Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Dowty and family of Michigan City; Mr. and Mrs. Don Deßose and daughter of Toronto, Canada; Miss Sandi White and Linda Brown of South Bend and Mrs. Martin Weiss of Kouts. Mr. and Mrs. Hunter, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Foster of San Juan, who had been visiting in Minnesota, flew to Texas Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Richey returned home late Friday evening from Daytona Beach, Florida where they spent three weeks visiting his mother, Mrs. May Richey, brother Joseph and sister Marion Melton. BETTER HOMES DEMONSTRATION CLIB MEETS The meeting was opened with the Pledge to the Flag. Twelve members answered roll call by “What I could do to be more patriotic.” After a short business meeting, a film “Vegetable Treasures’’ was shown by Janith Masteryanni, area extension agent. Mrs. Clyde Bick, president, appointed the nominating committee for the fall election. Chairman, Mrs. Branson Hiatt, Mrs. Hostetler and Mrs. Harry Fry. The annual picnic will be held August 24 at 6:30 at Sheneman's Grove. Meat and beverages will be furnished by the hostesses, Mrs. Larry Davis. Mrs. Clyde Cudney and Mrs. Wade Hostetler. Each member is to bring a covered dish. Delicious blueberry pie was served by the hostesses. Mrs. Ed Brookei;, Mrs. George Warner and Mrs. H. A. Hergenrother from a beautifully decorated table centered with a large vase of yellow gladiolis accented with yellow candles. Door prizes were receivel by Mrs. Carl Dreesen, Mrs. Wayne Cover and Mrs. Branson Hiatt.

BRIDAL SHOWER HELD Miss Ruth West was honored at a bridal shower at St. Anthony Catholic Church hall, July 5 . Hostesses were Mrs. Leo Spence, Mrs. James Spence and Mrs. Joseph Knowlton. The hall was attractively decorated in yellow and white. Games were enjoyed by 35 guests with prizes going to Mrs. Floyd Dipert and Mrs. William Sharp. The door prze went to Mrs. Loretta Gantert. The guests came from Michigan, Lakeville, LaPorte. Walkerton and Mill Creek.
