Preview To The Fair Presented “Preview to the Fair’ was the theme for Lincoln Township lord dress revue nad foods exhibit Wednesday at John Glenn High School with nearly 100 persons present. Outstanding 4-Hers were given special honors including Linc >ln Township's candidate for 4-H Queen and King; outstandit g junior leaders and State i- lir School candidates. Named as 4-H Queen is Miss Beverly Welch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Iceland Welch and King i> Mark Malstaff, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Malstaff. They will participate in the St. Joseph C mnty Fair opening ceremonies on Tuesday evening. August 4. Mrs. Howard Clingenpeel. repr;senting Better Homes Extension Ciub, placed a jeweled crown on Miss Welch’s head and presented Mark a Shaeffer pen from the club. They were selected on the basis of years in 4 H and projects completed. Outstanding junior leaders named here are Miss Pat Westh les, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Westhues, and Loren Ctpek. son of Mr. and Mrs. Junes Capek. Jr. Loren was a so acknowledged as the county winner to design the fair provam with his theme, “4-H ‘7O Style.’’ Girls and Boys State Fair School candidates are Miss Kathie Lazarek, daughter of A r. and Mrs. Ed Lazarek and A aik Malstaff. Two local entries placed in the t>p five in the county “Share the Fun ’ contest and competed u the sub-ar<.i contests. They v.ere Lynn and Lowell Warner, < i.'then of Mt. a.nd Mrs. George Wat tier, who placed first in the St. Joseph contest with a tap dmce and Denise .Groves, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Groves, who placed third with a vocal solo. Mrs. Harry Malstaff, girls 4-H c lordinator, narrated the dress revue and explained the tour of home projects and picnic at Culver this week. Other adult leaders include Mrs. James Rush, clothing I-1I; Mrs. Branson Hiatt, cothing 111-IV: Mrs. Howard Clingenpeel, clothing V-up; Mrs. Roy Freeman, foods I-II; Mrs. Charles Robert Cripe, foods lllup, Mrs. Donald Northam, homefurnishings; and Mrs. Malstaff, knitting, ceramics, fine arts and general crafts. Mrs. George Warner will be the knitting leader next year and begin classes m September. Thursday, July 30 in the minor league the Royals will play the Cardinals and in the major league game the Reds take on the Giants. Friday, July 31 the Astros play the Cubs in the minor league game. Monday. August 3 in the minor league the Cardinals vs the Expos and in the majors the Reds battle the Angels. Tuesday, August 4 the Cubs will challenge the Royals in the minor league and the Twins vs the Metz in the major league game. Thursday, August 6, the minor league will have a double header with the Pilots playing the Astros In the first game and the A s taking on the Expos in the second game of the evening. This is the last week for the fans to see these fine ball play-
ers in action for the season. Plan on attending one of the above games and see what all the shouting is about. The minor league play gets underway at 5:45 pin. and the major league games being at 7:30 p.m. The double header will begin at 5:45 p.m. with the second game at 7:30. This years Junior League Baseball program has been under the direction of Mr. Richard Kickbush.
