Governor Louie B. Nunn of Kentucky has announc.d the selection of Miss Sherry Wireman the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Forest Wireman of 1009 Tyler Street, Walkerton, Indiana, to participate in the Summer Social Worker Intern Program sponsored by the Department of Economic Security.. This program is designed to give college students who are interested in a social service career the opportunity to valuable training and on-the-job experience in the field of social work^ Students from Kentucky colleges und unversities and Kentucky residents attending out-of state schools are chosen to participate in the program according to their interest, career objectives, and academic backgrounds. Miss Wireman is pictured with Mrs. Judy Royalty, an instructor from the I^exington Training Center. After completing a two week training course, Miss Wire-

Zeta Pi Holds June Meeting The regular June meeting of the Zeta Pi Chapter of Tri Kappa was held at the home of Mrs. Paul Williams, Jr., with Miss Karen McCormick, co-hostess. President. Mrs. Clyde Steele presented Miss Karen McCormick and Mrs. Charles Creech with white carnations in appreciation of their work on the scrapbook which won an Honorable Mention, for Publicity at the Province Convention. Koontz Lake Conservation Co. Elects Officers The regular annual meeting of the Koontz Lake Conservation Lion Company was held at the Koontz Lake Conservation Club on Sunday, July sth, 1970. The following 12 persons were elected to serve as directors for the 1970-71 year: Mr. Clarence Reid, Mr. Harry Anderson, Mr. Frank Kramer, Mr. William Michalski, Mr. Ernest Brovoid, Mr. William Cranmer, Mr. Frank Atkisson, Mrs. Helen Quebbeman, Mr. Everett Shinn, Mrs. Frank Kramer, Mr. William Zerler and Mrs. William Michalski. The officers who will serve for the 1970-71 year are: President, Mr. Ernest Brovoid; Vice-presi-dent. Mr. Frank Atkisson; Treasurer, Mr. William Cranmer and Secretary, Mrs. William Michalski. Mr. Cranmer will also serve as custodian of all properties. Oregon Twp. Senior Citizens To Have Hobby Show The Senior Citizens group that meets at the Koontz Lake Grovertown Clubhouses has decided to call themselves the Oregon Township Senior Citizens. On our next regular meeting day, Thursday, July 16th, we will join with all the Starke County Senior Citizens for a Hobby Show at the Knox Town Hall, 1 block west of the south side of the Court House, at 1:00 p.m. CDT. If you have a hobby you would like to display, you may come at 12:00 noon CDT to set it up. Bring card tables or whatever you will need to display your hobby. There will be refreshments and door prizes. If you need further information call 586-2335. Bob Palmer Attending Institute Bob Palmer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Palmer of Koontz Lake, is attending the 6th Indiana High School Broadcast Institute at Indiana University, July 5 to 18. This Institute is a combination of the I U. R idio TV Department, the Indiana Broadcasters Association, and commercial broadcasters throughout the state. The two week session will be filled with classes, practical work assignments, discussion groups, and talks by professional broadcasters. Bob is a Plymouth High School student and is being sponsored by WTCA Radio Station, Plymouth. During his stay he will be residing at the Teter Quadrangle. The classes have been limited to 34 students with counselors specially selected for the Institute. LINCOLN TOWNSHIP EXTENSION HOMEMAKERS CLUB The July meeting of the Lincoln Township Extension Homemakers club was held Tuesday at the community building. first Tuesday of August with a •pot luck dinner at noon. A white elephant sale will be held in the afternoon. The Johnson Township club ladies will be the guests. Mrs. Ruth Clark gave the health lesson on ‘'chemicals and their use in the human body.” Twenty-three members and two guests were present. The hostesses for the day were Mrs. Edward Keeling, Mrs. James Kearney Sr., Mrs. John Cowger and Mrs. Louis Kemp. NEW FEATURE FOR METHODIST WORSHIP SERVICES Beginning this Sunday, July 12th, the United Methodist Church is urging all those who attend the early service at 8:30 to "come as they are.” This will be one of the features of this particular worship service from now on. If you are planning to spend the day out of town and dressed in casual clothes — come that way; stop and worship with us before you leave. Each person is to feel free to come in casual attire, work clothes, or in their Sunday best. There is no need to dress up in your Sunday best, unless you want to. The second worship service will be at 11:00 o clock in our new air-condition-ed building. Marine Lance Corporal Alfred Lawton, son of Mr. and Mis. Elgy Lawton of Route 2, Redwood Road, North Liberty, Indiana, was promoted to his present rank while serving with the First Marine Divison in Vietnam. Sgt Herman E. Stone, son of Mr. Ellsworth Stone of Walkerton. recently departed the Republic of Vietnam. He will be reassigned to Ft. Riley, Kansas. He served with the U. S. Army's largest division, the Americal, as a squad leader. Tho America! Division Headquarters is located in Chu Lai. Vietnam, 50 miles south of Da Nang, along the coast of South China Sea. The division's 24,000 soldiers operate from the sandy costal plains, to the rugged inland mountains of southern I Corps. Gossips get their dope through the grapevine—one of the bunch informs them.
