Lynn Barbknecht Receives B. S. In Education *w J *” ■»* *' * J ! . I Lynn Barbknecht, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Barbknecht, Route 1, Grovertown, is listed among the Indiana State University graduates receiving Bachelor of Science Degrees in Education in the 1970 ceremonies held at Terre Haute. Lynn is a 1966 graduate of Oregon-Davis High School. Durher four years at the University, she resided at Blumberg Hall, serving both semesters of her junior year as Hall Council, and two terms as Resident Assistant. She enjoyed her student teaching in kindergarten and first grade during the 1969 Fall Term, at Crooked Creek Elementary School Washington Township, Indianapolis. Her degree reads a major in Elementary Education and Endorsements in Kindergarten and Nursery School Education. From August 10th to 21st, Lynn plans to attend Kindergarten Work Shop Sessions at Perry Township, Marion County, where she has accepted a contract to begin her kindergarten teaching responsibilites at the Glenn Valley Elementary School. POST OFFICES ANNOUNCE HOLIDAY HOURS Window service for the Walkerton and North Liberty Post Offices will be curtailed at 12 noon on Friday, July 3, 1970, due to executive order. The Walkerton and North Liberty Post Offices will be closed Saturday, July 4, 1970 in observance of Independence Day. No deliveries of mail will be made.

Basketball Clinic At IGHS Twenty-nine boys participated in the 2nd John Genn High School Basketball Clinic. The clinic was under the direction of John Hans and Jack Davis. There were nine boys present in the 4th, sth and 6th grade group. They were as follows: Steve Huffetetter, Greg Doll. Pat Cowger. Barry Heim, Bob Rhodes, Brian Savoie, David Groves, Jim Groves and Greg Gratuer. There were 20 boys in the 7th and Bth grade group. They are as follows: Richard Flaugher, Ralph Jacobs, Doug Vermillyer, Randy Schmeltz, Mike Roush, Tom Hall, Mike Mahoney, Wayne Buswell, Don Hanni, Greg Gillies, Bernie Thompson, Jim Mechling, Russel Bacewic, Steve Daube, Mitch Perish, Mike Daube, Mike Flaugher, Jeff Neiswender, Randy Zartman and Tom Bolze. Fourteen boys had perfect attendance. Winners of basketballs were Randy Schmeltz, Greg Gillies and Barry Heim. Winners of basketball shoes were Tom Hall, Bernie Thompson and David Groves. T-shirt winners were Jeff Neiswender, Wayne Buswell, Mike Daube, Steve Daube, Don Hanni and Steve Huffstetter. All of the other boys received a pair of basketball socks. The 7th and Bth grade groups were organized into teams. The standings were as follows: Won Lost Points Bucks 2 3 7 Lakers 2 3 7 Knicks 5 0 10 Globetrotters 146 The Knicks were composed of Mike Flaugher, Russell Bacewic, Tom Hall, Randy Schmeltz and Tom Bolze. All boys were instructed in the basic fundamentals of basketball. Bill Snyder of LaVille High School made two appearances and gave demonstrations on indiviual moves for guards forwards and centers. □ n BIRTHS □ — n Mr. and Mrs. Byron Wallen of Walkerton, a daughter, June 17 in the E Street Division Hospital, LaPorte. A son was born June 18 to Mr. and Mrs. Edward C. Hiler, 505 Ohio Street, Walkerton ,in the St. Joseph Hospital, South Bend. Drive Carefully*
Farewell Program Given Monday For Stogsdills IF p® । * 1 A farewell program and fellowship supper was held Monday evening at the Teegarden First Brethren Church in honor of Rev. Claude Stogsdill and family. Rev. Stogsdill has accepted the pastorate of the Warsaw First Brethren Church after serving the Teegarden church since August, 1961. During the pastorate tn Teegarden an addition to the church was made and also a new kitchen was added to the parsonage. Rev. Stogsdill was also employed by the P-L-J Corp, as a school bus driver. All of the fellows wish to say Thank You for your support of their league. The schedule for the upcoming week is as follows: Thursday. June 25 — In the minor league the Royals will battle the Expos and in the majors the Giants will play the Reds. Friday, June 26 — The Cubs vs A’s in the minors and in the major league the Twins will play the Giants. Monday, June 29 — The Cardinals vs Pilots and in the majors the Angels vs Reds. Tuesday, June 30 the minors will feature the Astros vs the Expos in the major league game the Mets will play the Twins. Wednesday. July 1— Double Header — A’s vs Pilots and the Cardinals vs Royals. Thursday, July 2 — The minor league game will have the Cubs against the Astros and in the major league the Giants play the Angels. The All-Star game is scheduled for July 4. All the minor league games will begin at 5:45 p.m, and the major league games start at 7:30 p.m. The double-header on Wednesday will also begin at 5:45 and the second games will begin around 7:30.

NOTES O- 4 Mi PFC Ronald L. Kissinger has just completed UH-1 Helicopter Repair School at Fort Eustis, Virginia and is home on leave. PFC Kissinger is being sent to Vietnam on June 22. FJe completed his basic training at Fort Campbell, Kentucky on June 25, 1969. RECITAL HELD Mrs. David Lawrence presented her piano-organ students in recital at her home Sunday afternoon. Those taking part were Debbie Wolff. Patty Welch, John Frame, Cathy Kersch, Karri Cripe, Sherry Hiler, Sharon Ameling and Sandra Welch. Punch and cookies were served to the parents and guests following tha recital.
