Miss Kathy Ellen Shores and Charles A. Haug were united during a 7 p.m. double-ring ceremony in the United Methodist Church, Walkerton on Saturday, June 6. Rev. Richard Matteson performed the rites. Mrs. Jerry Seese of Grovertown was the organist and Mrs. Kenneth Cooley, Hamlet, was the vocalist singing “O Promise Me" and "The Lord's Prayer." Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Walter Shores, route 3, Walkerton and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Haug, route 1, Grovertown. The bride was given in marriage by her father. The bridal gown of white organza trimmed in lace featured an empire waistline and a chapel train of illusion. She carried a small bouquet of carnations on a white Bible. Matron of honor, Mrs. James Haug, Walkerton, wore a lavender gown of Georgette over taffeta. She carried a colonial bouquet of lavender tipped carnation. Miss Candy Young, Hamlet and Miss Mari Henrich of New Carlisle were the bridesmaids and they wore identicals gowns as the matron of honor. Miss Tammy Shores, niece of the bride, served as flower girl and she wore a lavender gown and carried a basket of rose petals.

Mr. Ron Goze, Grovertown, served as best man and the groomesmen were James Haug, cousin of the groom and Larry Haug, Grovertown, brother of the groom. Ushers were Ronald Shores, brother of the bride, Walkerton and Danny Nash of Grovertown. Master Rodney Lowry, Walkerton, nephew of the bride, was the ring bearer. A reception followed the ceremony in the Grovertown Conservation Club. The serving table was decorated in the bride's chosen colors of lavender and white with a four-tiered cake decorated with lavender flowers. Servers were Mrs. Wendell Lowry, Walkerton; Mrs. Edward Justice. Portage, sisters of the bride, Mrs. Carl Shores. Mrs. Ronald Shores of Walkerton, sister of the bride and Mrs. Albert Gongwer, Walkerton. Miss Kathy Bennitt was in charge of the guest book. Following a wedding trip to the New England states the couple will reside in Knox. The bride and groom are both graduates of Oregon-Davis High School. The bride will be a sophomore at Bethel College Mishawaka and the groom is employed at Knox Implement. The groom served four years in the Navy. Read the Classified Ads
Married A white garden arch entwined with green foliage and white daisies at the entrance to the sanctuary of the First United Presbyterian Church. Walkerton, and crocks of yellow daisies Hanking the center aisle and the altar formed the setting for the wedding of Miss Kathy Sue Theis and Michael Dale Matz. The 7 pm. double-ring ceremony was performed by Reverend Kenneth Bergner on Saturday, June 13. The organist was Mrs. Nelson Walz and the vocalist was Mrs. Kenneth Bergner. Selections were "O Perfect Love" and ‘‘The Wedding Blessing." Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Lester A. Theis, route 2, Walkerton and the groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Wayne A. Matz, route 1, Walkerton. Given in marriage by her father, the bride designed and made her dress and the dresses of her matron of honor, bridesmaids and flower girl. The bride’s gown was embroidered eyelet cotton with an Empire bodice and bishop sleeves with deep cuffs. An eyelet ruffle trimmed the center front of the bodice, neckline and the bottom of the skirt. Her chapel length veil of nylon net was secured by yellow daisies. She carried a bouquet of yellow daisies and baby's breath. Mrs. Allen Gieselman, Montgomery, Indiana served as the matron of honor, and her dress was of yellow dotted swiss, featuring an Empire bodice, elbow length sleeves with a matching ruffle on the bottom of the sleeves and skirt. She wore a matching yellow straw picture hat with an open crown and banded with wide nylon streamers and she carried a wicker basket filled with white daisies. Bridesmaids were Miss Sallie Dillard, Eustis, Florida, Mrs. Charles Smith, North Manchester, Indiana and Miss Rosalie Matz, Walkerton, sister of the groom. They were in the same attire as the matron of honor. Miss Tracy Bussie, North Liberty, served as flower girl and she was also attired in the same style of gown as the other attendants, except her headpiece was a yellow satin bow with white daisies attached to the streamers. Roger Swanson. Plymouth, Indiana. served as best man and the groomesmen were Ronald Bacon, Elkhart; Phillip Matz and Stephen Matz, brothers of the groom, both of Walkerton and Chester Bigler, Walkerton.

Master Brian Lowry, Walkerton, was the ring bearer. Approximately 200 guests were in attendance for the reception held in the Fellowship Hall of the church immediately following the ceremony. Crocks of yellow and white daisies, white garden arch with greenery and yellow bells attached were used as decorations. A four-tiered cake crowned with yellow daisies and a gold cross was served. Serving at the reception were Mrs. Warner Clark, Mrs. Joseph Lowry, Mrs. Kenneth Howell, Mrs. Gary Klinedinst, Miss Jo Ellen Howell, Mrs. Howard Bussie, Mrs. Wilbia Carothers, Mrs. Arthur Lane and Mrs. John Mangus. Mrs. Lee Zumbaugh was in charge of the guest register. Misses Marolyn and Carolyn Hunt, Mill Creek, cousins of the bride, were in charge of the gifts. A wedding trip was taken into northern Michigan and the couple will be at home after June 20 at 552 River Avenue, South Bend. The bride is a graduate from Walkerton High School and Stephens College, Columbia, Missouri. The groom is a graduate of Tyner High School and he attended Bethel College and served one year in Vietnam and two years in Germany. He is nowemployed by the National Bank and Trust Company of South Bend. Weekly Schedule For Junior Baseball The Junior League Baseball schedule for the upcoming week is as follows: June 18 — Astros vs Cardinals in the minors and in the majors the Twins vs the Angels. June 19 — the Expos vs Cubs and in the majors the Giants vs Mets. June 22 — Pilots vs Royals in the minor league and the Reds vs Twins in the major league. June 23 — The Royals vs Astros and the Angels vs Mets in the majors. June 24 — A double header will feature the A’s vs the Cardinals and the Cubs vs Pilots, in the minor league. June 25 — In the minor league the Royals play the Expos and in the majors the Giants play the Reds. The minor league games begin at 5:45 p.m. and the major league games begin at 7:30 p.m.
