Carbiener attended the open house Sunday afternoon in honor of their grandson, Greg Sanders who is graduating from the Laville High School. Mrs. Golda Collins of Waterford, Michigan spent from Thursday thru Sunday here with Mrs Ellen Brede. Mrs. Brede met Mrs. Collins on a Central American tour and have become very close friends. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wynn and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bellinger attended the baccalaureate services at North Manchester High School Sunday for Stephen Bellinger, a member of the 1970 graduating class. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Bellinger, former Walkerton residents. CELEBRATES FIRST BIRTHDAY Mr. and Mrs. Harold W. Rizek had a party Sunday, May 24th, in honor of their son Scot Jay’s first birthday. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Rafael Knaus (grandparents! of Chicago, Mrs. Alice Rizek (grandmother), Mr. Rudy Knaus of Chicago, Mrs. Bonnie Zimmerman and children of Bremen, Indiana, Mrs. Clara Hogan of Valparaiso, Indiana, Mrs. Merrietta Thomas of Valparaiso, Indiana, Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Batey and sons of Lansing, Illinois, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Rizek and children, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Rizek and children, Mr. and Mrs Ed Rhodes and son, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Sawicki and son of Chicago. An outdoor party had been planned but due to rainy weather the party was held indoors. They grilled hamburgers and hot dogs and there was an aisortmeAt of many salads and other appetizing foods for the guests. The children were favored with prizes. The gifti were opeaed and enjoyed by the birthday boy, with help from his mother, of course, and cake and punch was served. All in all, it was a most unforgettable and enjdyable "first birthday" for little Scott Jay.

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur McKesson were Sunday guests of Miss Mildred McKesson in Nappanee. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Beney and family of Richwood, Ohio spent the weekend in Walkerton as guests of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Baker and family. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Parsons of Lebannon, Ohio attended the graduation of their granddaughter, Sharon Chapman and stayed from Friday until Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Love and Robin and Miss Linda Gurman of Mishawaka were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur DeMyent Monday guests of Mrs. Delbert Whitaker and daughter, Karen were Mrs. Margaret Stolberg of Lansing, Illinois and Mrs. Gladys Dance of South Bend. Mrs. Esther Kauffman spent the weekend in East Gary, Indiana with her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Epperson and family. Ray Chapman, Keith Knepper and Earl Parsons of Knox attended the Masonic Lodge of Wolcott, Indiana on Monday evening to witness Guy Parsons receiving his Fifty Year pin. Mrs. Jeffrey Barnes of Evanston, Illinois attended commencement exercises at Bethel College in Mishawaka on Sunday. Mrs. Barnes is the former Carolyn Mann. Her brother, Adam, was among the graduates. Mr. and Mrs. Norris Bussie, John and Christine of Whitewater, Wisconsin were weekend visitors of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Hunt. Mr. and Mrs. Bussie attended the Grovertown Alumni Banquet on Saturday evening. Dr. and Mrs. V. B. Wolfe of Sebring, Florida arrived in Walkerton on Thursday of last week for several weeks stay with Mr and Mrs. Glen Walz and othei relatives and friends. Mrs. Wolfe is spending part of thia week tn Park Forest, Illinois with Mr and Mrs. Ted Wolfe and sons. George King, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert King, received his Bachelor of Science Degree Sunday, in commencement ceremonies at Manchester College. George Will be teaching. Business Education for the Tippecanoe School Corp, at the new Harrison High Schoo], Lafayette. He and his wife, Carol, reside in Battleground. Mrs. Lamar Stahly returned to Florida by plane Monday after a weekend visit with her mother, Mrs. Elsie Johnson. Mrs. Stahly drove from Jacksonville, Florida arriving on Saturday to accompany Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Stahly. Mr. Stahly had been convalescing in Florida after . a fall from an orange tree and was unable to come home and is getting along very well. Graduation r Open Houses Held Over Week End An Open House was held for Cindy Flaugher on Sunday, May 24 from 4 to 7 p.m. at their home by her mother, Mrs. Shirley Roth. Guests were present from Plymouth, South Bend and Michigan. A buffet supper was served to the guests. Beautiful gifts were given Cindy and the evening was one that Cindy will remember for a long time. An attractive buffet luncheon was served by Mr. and Mrs. Ray Chapman for their daughter, Sharon from 4 to 7 p.m., Sunday. Sharon received many lovely gifts from friends and relatives. Open House was held for Kathy Jo Shock, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Maynard Ricker from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Guests were from South Bend, North Liberty, Dunlap and Walkerton. Cake, punch and coffee was served. An Open House was held for Allan Eddinger following graduation on Sunday in the home of his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Eddinger. Cake and punch along with nuts and mints were served. Sunday afternoon Open House was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Milner Capes for their daughter, Vicki, a 1970 John Glenn graduate. Ninety-seven guests were present. The guests were from Union Mills, South Bend, Bremen, Mishawaka, Columbia City, Fort Wayne, Argos and Plymouth. Punch, coffee and cake was served by Mrs. Donald Knowlton of South Bend and Mrs. Bobbie Davidson of Walkerton. Open House for Denise Moreau, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Moreau, was held on Sunday evening following Commencement. Approximately thirtyfive guests from Plymouth, LaPorte, Teegarden and Walkerton were present. Several sent remembrances since they were unable to attend the' graduation exercises. About 30 guests attended along with some of her classmates. Refreshments for the evening were served by her mother, Mrs. George Holl, her brother, Rob and Carol Pontius. Cake, punch, mints, nuts and canopies were served. A bouquet of white daisies, pink roses, lavender and yellow iris alonw with her navy yellow iris along with her navy used as the centerpiece for the refreshment table. Miss Lynn Pickavet, graduating senior of John Glenn High School was honored by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Pckavet, 511 Georgia Street, Walkerton, Sunday afternoon from 4 t 6. RECEIVES SCHOLARSHIP William F. Zlatos, son of Mr. and Mrs. William F. Zlatos, 607 Harrison Street. Walkerton, was among more than 1,000 outstanding students at Indiana State University who were saluted at a special Honor Day convocation last week. William received the Chasteen Picker! Memorial Scholarship during ceremonies and citations at the university. AWARD WINNER Mise Lorraine A. Mullet, daughtet of Mr. and Mrs. Myron Mdllet, route 1, Walkerton, received the Maybelle Stoeg Lammers Memorial Award during the Honor Day convocation at Indiana State University last week.
