□ □ OBITUARIES D q Mrs. Wendelin R. Lenz Mrs. Minnie K. Lenz, 75, former resident of the North Liberty Tcegarden area, died at 11:15 a.m. Monday in the Americana Nursing Home in Elkhart, after a brief illness. Born February 13, 1895 in Chicago, she lived in this area nursing home. She married Wendelin R. Lenz, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Raymond of Riverdale, Illinois; two daughters, Mrs. Thomas Groves of Bristol, Indiana, and Mis. W. Clyde Pence of Midlothian. Illinois; 13 grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren; a brother, Otto Till of Chicago; and three sisters, Mrs. Frieda Helder of Frankfort, Illinois, Mrs. Caroline Rudnick of Downers Grove. Illinois and Mrs. Johanna Moranz of St. Anne, Illinois. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Wednesday at the A. M. Manuel Funeral Home in North Liberty. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday (today) at the Church of Christ in North Liberty, Rev. Tom Jones officiating. Burial will be at Westlawn Cemetery, North Liberty. Elizabeth Uncapher Mrs. Elizabeth M. Uncapher, <BB. Grovertown, died at 8:30 a. m. Wednesday, May 6 in her home floilowing a three-year illness. Sne was born October 12, 1881 in Donaldson, and had lived in the area all her life. She was married December 27, 1905 in Grovertown to Otto I. Uncapher who died in February. 1960. The Uncapher family had owned and operated the Uncapher grocery for the past 50 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Grovertown. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Thelma Harness, Grovertown; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Rannells Funeral home, Hamlet with the Rev. Milton Beeman officiating. Burial was in Grovertown Cemetery. Mrs. Myrtle V. Godfrey Mrs. Myrtle V. Godfrey, 66. of 402 S. State Street, North Liberty, died at 4 a m. Sunday in Memorial Hospital after an extended illness She was born April 23, 1904 in Taylor, North Dakota. She had lived in North Liberty 17 years. On April 23, 1925 she was married to John R. Godfrey, who survives along with three brothers, Albert Olson of Washington, Salmer Olson, of Colorado and Alvin Olson of Chicago. Services were held at A. M. Manuel Funeral Home in North Liberty at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. C. O. Billheimer, pastor of the Walkerton United Pentecostal Church, officiating. Burial was in Westlawn Cemetery, North Liberty. Ronda I-.ee Borkowski Infant Ronda Lee Borkowski daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Borkowski of Route 2, Walkerton, was stillborn at 3 a.m. Sunday at the E Street Division Hospital, LaPorte. Besides her parents, she is survived by a brother, Raymond Jr, at home; her paternal grandmother, Mrs. Mary Borkowski of New Carlisle; and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Harness of Walkerton. Services were held at 1 p.m. Monday at St Joseph Cemetery. The Kaniewski and Sons Funeral Horne was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Fred G. Ruppert Mrs. Hattie M. Ruppert, 73, of 725 Oak Street, died at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in the Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. She was born on February 25, 1897 in South Bend. On November 15, 1916 she was married in South Bend to Fred G. Rupert, who died June 30, 1969. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Elinor Milliken. Mrs. Helen Veith and Mrs. Elaine Toppel, all of south Bend; eight grandchildren and six great-grand-children. Arrangements were handled by the A. M. Manuel Funerd Home of North Liberty. Services were at the Orvis-Palmei Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial was in Highland Cemetery, South Bend. She was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ.
John F. Spence John F. Spence, 62, of Rt. 2, Walkerton, died at 4:15 a.m., Monday in St. Joseph's Hospital after a short illness. He was a retired telegraph operator for the Norfolk & Western Railroad. He is survived by three brothers Edward of LaPorte, Leo of Walkerton and William of North Liberty; and five sisters, Mrs Loretta Gantert of Niles, Mrs. Edward Sass of LaPorte, Mrs Kathryn Goodenough of Michigan City, Mrs. Agnes McKenzie of St. Augustine, Florida and Mrs. Josephine Sharp of Mill Creek. Services were at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Fish Lake, with Rev. Leonaid Kronkowski, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton He was a member of St. Anthony's Church and a veteran of World War 11. Rolw-rt Emmet Burge Robert Emmet Burge. 63. of Route 3. Box 290, Walkerton. (Koontz Lake) died unexpectedly of a cerebral hemmorhage at 5:05 a.m. Monday at the Pine Lake Division Hospital, LaPorte. He was a retired carpenter. Born September 3. 1906 in Chicago, he came to Walkerton four years ago from Worth, Illinois. On November 10. 1934 in Chicago he married Vernice Maihoff, who survives with a daughter, Mrs. Meta Ann Potrer, of Walkerton. Creamation was held. Nusbaum Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Roger Dean Zellers Funeral services for Roger Gene Zellers, 14, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald E Zellers, 64833 Liberty Trail, North Liberty, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Brethren Church, North Liberty with Rev. Kent Bennett, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Westlawn Cemetery, North Liberty. He died Tuesday. May 5 at the Riley Hospital, Indianapolis of hepatitis. Memorial contributions may bo made to HEI* (Hospital Expansion Prgram.) He was a seventh gi ider at North Liberty Junior High School and a membt r ot tlie First Brethren Church. who ruled the death an apparent suicide. Mrs. Norton said her husband was not in bed when she awoke in the middle of the night and after a search, she found his body in the barn. She said he had been respondent over ill health. LaPorte County bhenn s Patrolman John Fischbacher, who investigated, found a Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum revolver at the scene. The gun was reported to be owned by Norton. Juday said a corner’! inquiry would be conducted to verify the suicide ruling. Born November 13, 1915 in Walkerton, Norton had lived in the area all his life. He was employed at a tool and die maker by the Walkerton Tool and Die Co. On March 27, 1965, he married Lillian Maehler. Surviving besides his widow are his mother, Mrs. Cora E. Norton of Walkerton: two sons, Richard of Rolling Prairie and William at home; two stepsons, Eugene and Michael, both at home; a daughter, Mrs. Sharon McCahill of South Bend; two stepdaughters, Donna and Barbara Myers, both at home; three grandchildren and four sisters, Mrs. Ethel Garrett, Mrs. Josephine Skinner and Mrs. Vera Amour, all of Walkerton, and Mrs. Mary McEndarfer of LaCrosse, Indiana. Services were at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Nusbaum Funeral Home in Walkerton. Rev. William Babb, pastor of the Walkerton Wesleyan Church officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton.
