Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Burch returned home on Sunday evening after a two week vacation in Mexico. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Leslie went to Claypool, Indiana last Friday to attend the funeral of Mr. Leslie’s brother, Don Ijeslie. Mr and Mrs. Arthur DeMyer spent the week end in Indianapolis visiting their son, Craig, a student at Indiana Central College. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Roberts of Bellwood, Illinois; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hancock and Mr. Jerry Jancock of Hamlet were Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. John Northam. The Koontz Lake Conservation Club business meeting will be on Friday at 8 p.m. CST at the clubhouse. Guest for the evening will be Bob Robertson of District 1. Knox, Bass Lake Hatchery. On Saturday evening at 5:30 p.m. CST, a potluck dinner at the club house followed by a social hour will be held. Mr. Al Drews was elected president of the board of directors of Camp Millhouse at a dinner meeting held at the YWCA on Wednesday evening, February 11. Lois Pence presented a program and an excellent program was also given by some of the children from the camp. Mrs. Walter Plckavet and daughter Lynn and Mrs. Drews also attended the the dinner.

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Richey and Mr. and Mrs. Norman Taylor and Vickie were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Wilford and family in Westville to celebrate the birthday of Mrs. Richey* Miss Lucinda Steinke and Debbie Keck played a saxaphone duet and received a good rating at the contest held at Rochester. In the story that appeared last week in the Independent, it said that Juanita Steinke played the duet. Saturday evening guests of Mrs. Brooke Bowers for a carryin supper and Valentine party were Mr. and Mrs. Don Teter of Mishawaka, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Sheneman and Mr. and Mrs Kenneth Murphy of North Liberty; Mr. and Mrs. Clell Fouts, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Stoneburner. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Pogodzinskl. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Grenert, Mr. and Mrs. Wilder Burnside, Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Skinner, Mrs. Dorothy Walsh, Mrs. Etta Mae Milner and Mrs. Minnie Mikesell all of Walkerton. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Fields of Geneva were visitors from Wednesday to Sunday of their daughter, Dr. and Mrs. Robert Hanni and family. On Friday, Mrs. Hannl's brother, Cary Fields and family of Indianapolis came for a week end visit. Their son Mark remained here for a few days visit the Hannl's. Mr. and Mrs. Cleo Clark returned Saturday from a 2 week vacation trip to Florida. Alabama, and Mississippi. In Florida they stopped at Sebring to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Brown and went sight seeing along both coasts of Florida. In Mississippi, they visited the place where the hurricane hit last summer and at Vicksburg they saw the battleground.
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Beagles entertained Sunday with a birthday dinner honoring Mrs. Roger Hellinga. Other guests were Mr. Hellinga, Tommy and Tammy of Middlebury, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Beagles and Timmie and Mrs. Roy Miller. Evening guests were Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Hellinga and Jerry of Tyner; Mr. and Mrs. Billy Jenkins, Cathy and David of Winamac and Mr. anl Mrs, Albert Burroughs of Plymouth. These are busy days for Miss Rhine as she sends out the many letters in laying the groundwork for another successful Summer Festival. This part of putting on such an event is vital to its success and we can assure you that it is in good hands with Beverly. She’ll be on hand at the Steering Committee meeting February 17. MR. LEHMAN TO VISIT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Forest Lehman will be showing colored slides to the second year Social Studies classes on Friday, February 20. They will center around the life of Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. Mr. Lehman has visited many places connected with the history of their lives and has taken these slide pictures as a hobby.

NL Tri Kappa Plans Fashion And Wig Show Here The Zeta Pi Chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa, Inc. met February 11 in the home of Mrs. Guy Puzek. Mrs. Gary Shade, general chairman, gave a report on the progression or our fashion and wig show, "Flight to Fashion & Fun." to be held April 10 at the North Liberty School cafateria. Mrs. Richard Carter distributed the tickets to each member reminding them that the proceeds will be used for a scholarship to be given to a graduating Senior from North Liberty High School. It was voted at the January meeting to help with the Easter Egg Hunt and Mrs. Jonn Peddycord announced that as of this date no organization is planning to organize the hunt. If the hunt is given for the community the chapter still wants to assist. Members were asked by Mrs. Peddycord to donate small gifts and cookies for the Valentine party to be given by the chapter for the St. Joseph County Home, February’ 15. A May Day Dance is being planned for May 2 at the North liberty American Legion. Mrs. Guy Rizek is the general chairman for this event with proceeds going toward education. Refreshments were served from a Valentine decorated table by the hostess and Mrs. R. DuWayne Whitmer. BOWLING PARTY The seventh grade class of the United Methodist Church, Walkerton had a bowling party Sunday afternoon at Liberty Lines. North Überty. Pizza and pop were enjoyed afterwards at the Illinnois Street building. Those going were Wayne Buswell. Mike Clark. Kevin Schweder. Delbert Fry, Don Hanni. Ricky Flaugher, Marcy Jackson. Cynthia Naragon. Lowell Warner, Barbara Bick, Roberta Anderson, Mitzi Knepper. Catherine Hahn and Gerald Hahn. Teachers are Mrs. Knepper and Mrs. Leigh Roy Hahn. A thank you goes to Kent Schweder and Mr. Knepper for driving.
