Mr. end Mrs Gus Verkier were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Goshorne of Elkhart. Mr. and Mrs Ernest Hayter, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Robison returned on Friday evening from e two weeks vacation in Austin, Texas with Major Robert Hayter and family. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Klinedinst entertained guests on Sunday in honor of the sixth birthday of their daughter, Sherry Lynn. Those present for dinner included her brother, Mike; her grandparents, Mr and Mrs. Orville Klinedinst, and Mr. and Mrs. Everett Ream of Walkerton; and her great-grandmother, Mrs. Mary’ Moore of Denver. Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Tarlton and sons Friday night and Saturday guests were Mrs Marguerite Bisbee of Fostoria, Ohio and Mrs. Donald Schau“r of Jerry City, Ohio. Mrs. Bisbee is the mother of Mrs. Tarlton and Mrs. Schauer Miss Sally Myers is home from Porta Alegra, Brazil where she has been for the past year teaching in their schools. Sally has accepted a position as a teacher in Barker School System in Michigan City and will be residing there after next week Mr. and Mrs. Lester McCroskey of North Judson, Mrs. Rachael Barthel of LaPorte, Mr. Charles Lempke and Miss Alpha D'mpke of Mill Creek, and Mrs Esther Kaufman were Saturday evening dinner guests of Mr and Mrs. John McCombs at their lake cottage. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Minter and family recently .vacationed in Kentucky. They Want to see Crystal and Ony Mamoth Caves in Kentucky. They went to see Crystal and Onyx Mammoth Caves in Kentucky and on their way home, they stopped at the Indiana State Fair in Indianapolis. Mrs. Glen Mattocks and her sister, Mrs Roy Wolff and Miss Valerie Wolff of North Liberty were in Marquette, Michigan over the Labor Day weekend sightseeing and visiting with friends. While there the announcement was made by Mr. and Mrs. Tony Kylkinen of Milwaukee, Wisconsin of the engagement of their daughter Trudy to Staff Sargeant Tom Mattocks of Walkerton.

Miss Susan Mellin, Plymouth, spent the week end visiting her friend, Miss Linda Chapman. Mrs. Win’ red Zener and son Timmy of Haddem, Kansas are visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Crambert, Koontz Lake. Mr. Burl Wickham, Clark Street, Walkerton, is in the E Street Hospital, LaPorte where he was taken last Friday following a heart seizure Mrs Esther Harman spent a few days with Rev. and Mrs. George Holston of Kokomo and Mr. and Mrs. Francis Cole and family of Greentown recently. A'ter a few weeks furlough at home with his parents, K. nneth Chapman was sent to Fort Lewis, Washington, in the 296th Military Police Company tor further training. Monday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs Jack Ryan and family were Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Burch and Mrs. Robert Urbin. Birthday cake and ice cream was served in honor of Jim Ryan's eighth birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Beuty attended the reunion of the 49ers Past Matrons and Patrons of this district at the home of David and Helen Miller near Elkhart on Sunday evening. Twenty-nine were present tor the delicious supp r and a large twentieth Anniversary cukv and coffee were enjoyed after the business meeting Mrs Claude Watkins was hostess to the Kesler Reunion held at the beautiful country home of her niece, Mrs. Car roil Wharton and Mr. Wharton. Guests present were from South Bend, Plymouth, LaPaz, Walkerton, Holland, Illinois, North Liberty and Manchester. All had a very enjoyable day; visiting and swimming in the pool after a pot luck picnic. AW3 Michael P. Stradley and his W’ife Phyllis spent two Weeks visiting with Mr and Mrs. Chester T. Emmons of Walkerton and Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Stradley of Knox. Mr. Stradley is a 3rd class petty officer in the U S.N. He recently returned to his Air Anti-Submarine Squadron VS-24. which is presently assigned to the U.S.S. Yorktown in Norfolk, Virginia. Upon his return to Norfolk, he will leave for a four month NATO cruise. Miss Janyce Hughes, North Liberty, was graduated on Sunday, September 7 from Ivy Tech as a Practical Nurse. The ceremonies were held at the Goodman Auditorium. Bethel College, Mishawaka. There were twentyseven pratical nurses and sewn lab assistants who received their pins and diplomas Mrs. Phyllis Frazier, Walkerton, was among those who graduated Sunday, September 7 from Ivy Tech. Mrs. Robert Hostetler, Van Buren St, Walkerton, is recovering, following major surgery in the St. Joseph Hospital, South Bend. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Groshans Sunday guests were Mrs. Wilma Hockett of LaPorte and Mr. and Mrs. Bud Farrar and family of South Bend Miss Puula Hasse of San Diego, Caliomia has been visiting in the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Houser for the past two weeks. They spent several days last week sight seeing and swimming at Ludington, Michigan. Paula is the daughter of the former Nancy Lawrence and will fly back hom>‘ on Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs Fred B-llinger celebrated their 59th Wedding Anniversary on Sunday with a family dinner at the Dudeck Country Kitchen Restaurant, North Liberty. There were 30 present and included Mr. and Mrs. Ed Lazarek and daughter, Mr. and Mrs Elmer Hunt and sons, Mr. and Mrs. John Bellinger and Greg. Mrs. Mary Edwards and family of South Bend and Mr. and Mrs Tom Foster end family of North Liberty. The afternoon was spent at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Hunt. It was a very enjoyable occassion for the honored guests, Mr and Mrs. Fred Bellinger.

Mrs. Leonard Beaty sp»nt several days last we<>k with her mother, Mrs. Stella Campbell of Belle Center, Ohio, who was ill. Mr and Mrs. Wajme Burch returned Sunday after a weeks vacation and fishing trip to Crystal Falls, Michigan. Jones of Breman helped Master Troy Baker celebrate his birthday at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Baker in Bremen Mrs. Fayette Dunn, Mrs. Dennis Dunn of Lafayette, Mrs. Pete Dunn of Goshen attended a bridal luncheon in honor of Miss Margie Diene Harris of Chicago, Illinois at 1:30 p.m in the Tup Room at Tinkers Damm, given by Mrs. Robert Gore of Illinois, an aunt of the honored guest. Many beautiful gifts wer-i received. Mr. and Mrs Agnew Ludwig returned last Wednesday from 1 vacation to Pennsylvania. On their way they took Mrs. Martha Lowry to Cleveland, Ohio to visit with her daughter, Sharon From there the Ludwig’s went to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Ludwig in Sinking Springs, Pennsylvania They also visited with oth n r relatives and friends.
