Mr. and Mrs. A! Summerfield and son and Ron Dirter went to Chicago on Easter Sunday to Mr. and Mrs. Summerfield’s son’s home for dinner and they also went to the Museum of Science and Industry. Saturday guests of Mr. amt Mrs. Robert Bettcher and William Bettcher were Mr. ami Mrs. Orris Farrar of Walkerton. Easter guests were Mrs. Zella Mann of North Liberty, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Beecher and family ©f Lakeville and Miss Janet Palicki of South Band. Bunco Club was held at Mrs Dorothy Arnett's home on Wednesday, April 2nd. Prizes were won by Georgia O'Connor, Ist place; IXmna Porter, 2nd place; Clothespin, Loraine Perkins *nd the booby prize was won by Ethel Moore and the most buncos went to Linda McLaughlin. Birthday Dinner Michael Garwood was honored at a dinnr celebration on Sunday at the home of his grandparents. Mr. and Mrs Charles E Whitmer. Guests were his parents and brother, Mr and Mrs. Carl E. Garwood and Brian and David and his great aunt, Mrs. Hattie Dawley all of LaPorte. | Bill Whitmer, of the local FFA Chapter, traveled to Pierceton | High School, recently and was । the winner of the local competition in the essay contest and Freshman Creed public speak--1 ing. Others also, participating were Dan Bean, rn.ni Mury, Mike Werntz, Rich Plunkett, Wes Peterson and Joe Fisher. The Picnic will be held on June 29, 1969 at the Oscar Baer home, Shafer Like, Indiana. Mrs. Dan Awald, Indiana Membership Chairman American Hereford Auxiliary, explained briefly about the newly formed vrganizatiun for Heretord Women. Membership applications were passed out to interested women. An Indiana Chapter will be organized in Lebanon, Indiana on April 5, 1969. Mr. Ralph Dodson, American Hereord Fieldman, spoke regarding advances, changes and conditions in the Heretord industry and in the beet industry in general. He also discussed promotional and American Hereford Association Breeder Programs and their effect on private nnd auction sales of cattle. MARTHA CIRCLE MEETS The April meeting of the Martha Circle was held April 2nd. There were 8 members present. Mrs. Jackson opened the meeting with a poem. "Legend of the Violets." Elaine Bouse had devotions. Scripture was taken from Luke 24, 23. She gave the medation in "Today” magazine. Francis Jackson gave the lesson on Psalms 14, 70, 53, 108. She read from the commentary on the book of Psalms. The Psalms are five different books made into one. We were served refreshments by our hostess, Mrs. Watkins. Seat Belts Do Save Lives
PACK NIGHT GROVERTOWN Cub PACK 337 A large group of spectators watched as 16 cub scouts lined up their pine wood derby cars for the judges, Boy Scouts Tim Sullivan and Mike Cain. The judging was done as to style and neatness and Kevin Andersons car placed first, Ralph Gillies second, and George Bottorff third. First place was awarded u wall plaque and ribbon and 2nd & 3rd place ribbons. After the weighing in 6 heats were run with the winners being Ist heat Ralph Gillies, 2nd Kevin Anderson, 3rd heat Lloyd Rosander, 4th heat, Billy Meadows, sth heat Carl Rosander Jr., 6th heat, Tom Scanlon. A run off of all winners left Kevin Anderst n as the grand champion and Ralph Gillies runner up. All 2nd place heat winners racing with Jack Hunt cming in Ist. Ribbons were presented to all winners and a pine wood derby tie slide was presented to each boy who enteied <or his good work. Achievement awards were given out: Wolf Badge to Terry Howard and a special candle light ceremony for the Webelos Den. This was the last pack night for the whole den as they all went into Boy Scout troop 37 on Monday. All the boys, Kevin Anderson, Carl Rosander Jr., Jack Hunt, Charles Allen, Tom Scanlon, and George Bottorff received Webelos activitiey badges and the Webelos arrow of light, A special thanks was given to Mr. and Mrs. Richard Anderson Jr. for their past 3 years with the Cub Scouts.

CAMP FIRE GIRLS The girls of the Fifth Grade Camp Fire Girls, met fur their first Council Fite recently. In charge of the event were Maili., Hay, decorations, Brenda Limbert, Sherry Pittman and D.ane Hostettler, ref reshment. Jana Nelson presented a talk about the American Flag.
