a joint petition, placed before the Public Service Commission of Indiana by the United Telephone Company of Indiana, Inc., the Citizens Telephone System, Inc., and the Argos Telephone Company requesting authority to merge the three companies, has been approved. The merger, effective since January 1, 1969, gives the United Telephone Company of Indiana, Inc., ownership and opeialmg authority of all telephone properties of the Citizens and Argos Companies. The addition of the Argos and Citizens Companies increases the number u. exchanges operated by the United Telephone Company of Indiana from 91 to 101 and exp mils the number of tiephones served by the Company to 145,110. Valuation < ' the 1968 CROP Community Hunger Appeal is $3,596,000 the largest total since CROP’S banner year of 1948, when $4 4 million was collected in commodities and cash. Not included in this total is a $2,223,090 valuation from the Church World Service Clothing Appeal, now administered by CROP. The combined total (subject to audit I for the 1968 CROP program is $5,820,000. Illinois was honored with the "Top Crop" award with its total of $198,000. In the 1968 totals.
