How Sweet It Is! Falcons Capture First Game 81*50 The John Glenn Falcons put more of their game together Saturday night than had been the case in any previous contest, to top a not-to-powerful Kouts club by an 81-50 score. The Falcons moved toward.-, the basket better, ran better and did not throw a lot of passes away in this game to completely dominate the Porter County team. It was obvious from early in the contest that Glenn was going to rai k up number one. Kevin Hanni opened the scoring with a rebound lay-in after utmost a minute had passed. Craig lxMyer, getting an opportunity t shoot <,ver a zone defen e, hit hi <i~st of nine baskets in this game before Jim Gingerich hit a fre< throw after two and a halt minutes had passed Hugh Geren hit a tip-in and Koger Stull a free throw for a 7-1 lead before Gingerich hit from 13 foot for the Mustangs field goal. Geren and DeMyer hit back-to-back and after a free throw by E le Schultz, it was then DrMyer and Geren in that order for a very comfortable 15-4 lead By the end of the quarter, the Falcons enjoyed an 18-6 margin The second quarter found the cold Mustangs, a single field goal in the first period, warming up a little, but the damage wo already done. Hanni and Geren hit baskets and Hanni a p iir of free throws before the Mustangs second basket came off the found of Greg Clapp The teams then played it about even as the Faicons pulled to a very nice 12 22 lead by the mam intermission The second half was more of the name only com n John Hans was able to Use his bench a lot in this 16 minute session H mni scored 10 third quarter points b pace the Falcons as they move ! to a 62-33 three-quarters lead and even with the entire bench seeing action, the Falcons still outscored the Mustangs in the final stanza in moving to the 81 50 victory. Hanni l>eadw Scorers Hanni finished with 21 point for the night on seven baskets and as many free th xws DeMyer pegged in nine field goals and Charlie Stafford and Geren each added 17 and 15 respectively for the winners. An 11 point effort by kHB-e-uog ..u5,,., paced the losing Mustangs. B Train Win* first The Falcons B Team made the night a complete success by wm ning a thrilling 47-45 victory over the Kouts reserves. In thi game, some younger player showed their colors well as tw 1 boys, Pletcher and Jaske. were moved up from the freshman team and steadied the -quad well as well as each getting eight points. Bullinger was high for the winners with 16 markers. Roy DeSimone has been chosen president o' the Walkerton Chamber of Commerce for the 1969 year to begin January 1.
