Lgan. Attending from the area were: Mrs. Osborn Fisher, president of the North Liberty Women’s Club; Mrs. Harley Knowlton, secretary of the North Liberty Home Ec. Club; Mrs. Clarice Edison of the Star Neighborhood Club. North Liberty; Mrs. June Dunning and Mrs. Jean McGowan of the Riley Woman's Club, Lakeville. Mr. Childs told the group of 25 representatives of 25 St. Joe County organizations that clipping used commemorative postage stamps can give people a chance to help fight tuberculosis in foreign lands. As soon as a marketable number of stamps have been collected, he said, they will be sold. This money will then be sent to the International Union against Tuberculosis to be used in building clinics where Tuberculosis is still the number one killer. He urged the group to be a part, a meaningful part of the program.
Membership to the Scissors Corps requires only a pair of scissors and a desire to help others. Anyone interested should contact Mrs. Goldstein, chairman of the St. Joseph County Unit < the Scissors Corps. or the Tuberculosis League. 319 S. Main Street, South Bend. Better Homes Club Meets In Walkerton The Better Homes Extension Club met Monday evening at the Community Building. Mrs. Mohler. a home economist for REMC in Porter County gave a most interesting demonstration on “Purchase and Use of a New Binder." She demonstrated with ease and speed how to make a creamy fruit punch and cole slaw. Miss Lynn Clark, the girl's 4-H leader introduced Linda Bellinger, who gave a health demonstration “Wh it Is Your Mouth?” President Mrs. H ward Clingcnpecl asked the members to contribute Hostess gifts for India. Mrs. Jane Aylesworth of Hebron, Indiana is the Indiana Exchangee to India, sponsored by the Indiana Extension Homemakers Association. Each club is asked to contribute such things as costume jewelry (pins perferred), potato peelers, wooden spoons and spatulas. tea toweles, pot holders and doilies. Members may bring their gifts to the home of Mrs. Branson Hiatt before Friday. July 26. Hostess< s were Mrs. Harry Malstaff and Mrs. Neil Downey.
