All Starke County taxpayers are invited to attend. Daily Vacation Bible School The Koontz Lake United Missionary Church Daily Vacation Bible School begins next week June 5-14 from 9:30 to 11:00 each morning. There will be classes for all ages of children, with the teenagers meeting in the evening. Rev. Gordon Bacon, District Superintendent for the United Missionary Church will be the guest speaker this Sunday morning, June 2, at the Koontz Lake United Missionary Church. Scout News The Cub Scouts met May 22 in the Scout Building in Grovertown. Eifty persons came to help the scouts celebrate their "Fun Fair" ticket selling success, with a Weiner roast. The following badges were awarded to the cub scouts. B 1 Mt adows was invested into the cub scouts and received his Bobcat pin. Jack Hunt received the W ' and Gold Arrow Point Badges; Charles Allen, the Gold ond the Silver Arrow Point Badges: an 1 Kevin Anderson reemved the Silvei Arrow Point Badge. Bruce Martin received several camping articles for selling the most tickets to the Scout Fun Farr. He sold 150 tickets. Jay Thornburg received a wrist watch for selling 100 tickets. Those receiving pocket flashli ’hts were Jack Hunt for selling 35 tickets, Phillip Shaffer and Bill Meadow’s for selling 20 tickets. The troop also won a second place for their Tree House with rop e ladder they had entered in the fair that was held Maj- 18 in LaPorte. If enough boys show up, the cub scouts will march in the Me morial Day Parade in Walkerton on Thursday. The Koontz Lake Lions Club auction w'hich was held last Saturday was a huge success. 2 the Lions would like to extend
their appreciation to all that attended to make this auction a success. H OUSEHOLD HINTS Entertaining? One of the best ways to destuffify such a party or open house is to take special care in preparing or creating the menu. Here are a couple of punch recipes that you might like to try. Bloomin’ Punch 1 quart water ’2 cup unsweetened instant tea or 12 tea bags 1 (1 pint) bottle Karo light corn syrup 2 <6 oz. cans rrozen lemonade 1 quart col l water 1 is oz. i bottle grenadine syrup 2 il pint , 12 oz.» bottle club soda. Bring 1 quart water to boil in saucepan. Remove from heat; immediately add tea. If tea bugs are used let stand 4 minutes; remove hags. Stir corn syrup into hot tea. Pour cold water into punch bowl. Pour in tea mixture lemonade and grenadine syrup. Just before serving, add soda and ice. Makes about 4’a quarts or 25 (\ cup) servings. 68 Skidoo Punch 3 (6 oz. i cans frozen pink lemonade 1 (1 pint 1 bottle Karo light corn syrup 2 <1 pint 1 bottles raspberry or cherry carbonated beverage 1 (1 pint l bottle ginger ale Mix lemonade and corn sj-rup in a punch bowd or suitable container. Just before serving, add carbonated beverage, ginger ale and ice. Makes about 3’2 quarts or 19 (% cup) servings. Party Sandwiches For all party sandwiches, use thin-sliced firm-type bread. Spreads work best when extra
smooth. Mince Chicken and ham in a blender, mash capers. To prevent dryness, spread filling completely to edges. Use a thin sharp knife* to trim crusts from all edges. Press stacks firmly together, wrap and chill thoroughly. For riDDon sandwiches, stack alternately 3 slices whole wheat and 2 slices of white bread, filling with 1 or more spreads. Press each stack. Slice off crusts. Wrap in foil or plastic. Chill at least 2 hours in refrigerator. Cut into ^2 inch thick slices to reveal ribbons. Cut each ribbon slice Into thirds, halves or into 2 or 3 triangles, If not served immediately, cover with waxed paper.
