She is also visiting other relatives and friends around Walkerton and Plymouth. Greg Amor, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn D. Amor, Rural Route 3. Plymouth, plans to attend Huntington College according to an announcement by the Athletic Director, Dave Osgood. Greg is planning on majoring in Physical Education. Greg is a John Glenn High chool basketball and baseball star.

Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Tarlton and sons visited his brother, Richard Tarlton and his parents in Lagrange Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Shenks attended a rally in Crown Point in honor of Mrs. Sheaks brother, Ernest Niemeyer who is running for State Representative of the Second District. On April 24th a group of nine sisters spent the day and evening in the home of Mrs. Everett Baker to celebrate the birthdays of Mrs. Baker and Mrs. Kenneth Reed. Those present were, Mrs. Ralph Hillegas. Mrs. Howard Miller. Mrs. Florence Weise all of South Bend; Mrs. R. C. Foegley, Vandallia, Michigan; Mrs. Ruth Bare. Mrs. Marvin Kizer, Mrs. Kenneth Reed, Mrs. Vonnie Steele and a niece, Mrs. Cecil Weber all of North Liberty. A lovely day was enjoyed by all.

Kelly Powell who is stationed at Plattsburg Air Force Base, New York is spending a 10 day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Powell. He is also visiting in th home of his sister, Mr. and Mrs. Terry Lute and son in Indianapolis. Sunday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Burch were Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ryan, Janet, Julie and Jim and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Urbin. The occasion was in honor of Mrs. Ryan who was celebrating her birthday. Mrs. Harry Collins, R.R. 3, Walkerton returned recently from Denver, Colorado where she attended the wedding of a cousin of Mr. and Mrs. Collin's, Alan Foulton to Miss Mary Elizabeth Martinac at the St. Athonoy Paudua Church on April 20th. Before returning to Indiana, Mrs. Collins was given a tour of the beautiful spots in that area, by the relatives of the bridal party. ATTENDS STATE GRAND CHAPTER Local Walkerton people attending the Indiana Grand Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, last week, in Indianapaolis were; Mr. and Mrs. Newton Williams, Mrs. Irene Lidy, Mrs. Clarence Reid, Mrs. Stanley Orcutt, Mrs. Charlie Steinke, Mrs. Alfred Drews, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Candler and sons, Randy and Brett, Mrs. Edward Peterson, Mrs. Walter Jackson, Mrs. Edith Kuhwein, Mrs. Mary’ Bauers, Mnu John McCombs and Mrs. George Ferverda. Mrs. Ray Oberly of Bremen was installed as Worthy Grand Matron of Indiana Grand Chapter. Os interest to area readers, Mrs. Oberly is the mother of Mrs. Robert Candler of Walkerton, who is the wife of State PeUcer men Robert Candler and both. Mr. and Mrs. Candler are members of Walkerton Chapter No. 319, Order of the Eastern Star. New’ton Williams and Mrs. Irene Lidy as Worthy Patron and Worthy Matron of Walkerton Chapter O.E.S. and Mrs. Clarence Reid, associate Matron attended as voting delgates for their chapter.

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Wray spent the week end at their cottage in Petoskey, Michigan. Come on over to the Youth Building and help decorate for the After-Prom. Mrs. Ellen Brede, Mrs. Edi* Kuhlwein and Mrs. Vivian Hillis were Sunday evening luncheon guests of Mrs. Bertha Urbin. Grant Steele and Charles I. Whitmer are among some thirty ministers and layman representing eight denominations from Indiana, Illinois, Ohio and lowa who are attending a seminar this week at the Ecumenical Center of Renewal and Planning at Merom, Indiana. It was erroneously stated in the Independent last week that Mrs. Grace Atw<xxi who has been a patient in the Anderson Nursing Home, LaPorte for the past several weeks had returned home. However she did not get home at that time but anticipates coming home this Friday, May 3. □ □ BIRTHS □ □ A son was bom on April 23 to Mr. and Mrs. Nicky Rush of Walkerton in the E Street Division hospital, LaPorte. Mr. and Mrs. James J. Norris, 501 S. Main SL. North Liberty are parents of a daughter, bom April 24 in St. Joseph's Hospital.
