Cake and coffee were served to those attending the surprise celebration and Mr hirley was presented with gifts as a friendly gesture by some of the people of Walkerton.
Chamber To Meet Thursday Noon The approaching Summer Festival will be the main topic of intereot at the Chamber of Commerce meeting which will be held at the Paddle Wheel Restaurant on Thursday, May 8. The meeting will begin at noon and president Mahlon Jacob will be in charge of the meeting.

With the plans for the Summer Festival progressing well, time is drawing short and the cooperation of many individuals will be needed to finish the work. Ervin Stuntz is the general chairman and is doing a fine job of coordinating the many activities that will be featured during the big three-day festival. Wednesday at Koontz Lake. A retired assistant manager of the John Hancock Insurance Co., Chicago, he was born on Aug. 1 k 1902, in Star City, Ind. On Aug. 31, 1929, in Quincy 111., he marreid Mabh Vansteel, who survives. Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. Florence Pearson of Clarendon Hills, 111. Services were at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Walkerton, with Rev. Anthony Letko, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton. The rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Nusbaum Fhmeral Home, Walkerton. Mr. Jacobson was the treasurer of the Koontz Like Lions Club, charter and board member of the Koontz Lake Assn., chairman of the advisory committee for St. Patrick's Credit Union, chairman of the Koontz Lake Hospital drive and a member of the Starke County Medical Board. Memorial donations may be made to St. Patrick's Church. Warren Houser Funeral services for Warren Houser, 67, of 28440 Pierce Rd., North Liberty, who died of a heart attack just before his car struck the overpass bridge at Bronson and Michigan St., were at 1 p.m. Saturday in the North Liberty Methodist Church. Rev. Thomas Frost, pastor, officiated. Burial was in the Westlawn Cemetery. Mr. Houser was born on April 17, 1901, in North Liber-
