Select Students For North Liberty Spelling Contest The following students have been selected to represent the North Liberty Elem. School in the spelling contests on Friday night, April 19, in the school cafeteria. A contest will be held for grades 5 & 6, and another for grades 7 & 8. Mrs. Bryce Rohrer, president, officiated as the chapter welcomed Mrs. Jack Ryan, Miss Deborah Brovoid, Mrs. David Whaley and Miss Diana Doll. A painting entitled "Winter" is < n loan from the Tri Kappa art collection, housed in Brown County, and will be on display at. John Glenn High School for a year, Art chairman, Mrs. Denslow Doll announced. The chapter will sponsor Ann Biggins, a senior at John Glenn High School, at the Tri Kappa State Art Contest to be held April 20 at Purdue University, West Lafayette. The winning student, will receive a .scholarship to help further his interest in art. Also, the 25th annual preview of the Northern Indiana Ait Salon will be held ztpril 21st at Hammond. Mrs. Richard Hershberger announced her committe to he hard at work on final plans for the senior tea, which will be held on Apnl 24th at the Walkerton Elementary School. Each year Tri Kappa chooses this way in which to honor the graduating senior girls and their mothers. Mrs. Roy DeSimone and Mrs. Leland Welch discussed plans and projects of the’ chapter for the forth coming Summer Festival to he held June 6 - 9. in Walkerton. Mrs. Robert Hiler was appointed the Chamber of Commerce representative. Dessert was served from a randieite table centered with small vas's filled with foliage plants which were later presented to the new pledges. Hostesses assisting Mrs. Jacob were Mesdames James Capek, Roy DeSimone and Robert Urbin.
Your Chamber Os Commerce Ai Work Plans are nearing completion for the Walkerton Summer Festival Sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce June 6th thru 9th. To keep you informed and up to date each week we will give you a portion of events that are to come. This Friday evening April 19th, the Planning Committee will me< t again for final ground work on the over all plans. The planning Committee hopes that the Chairman of each event, with as manv Co-Chairman and helpers, as possible, will meet at Stunt z’s Hall at 7:30 CST. This is our eighth Committee met ting, and I can just state, that T have never worked with any Committee that had more enthusiasm. This Summer Festival is bound to be a striking success. We have carefully considered every event and asked ourselves these four questions. 1. Will they be good for the Merchants and Town’’ 2. Will they be Educational ? 3. Will they be clean? 4. Will they be Entertaining?

Easter Egg Hunt Postponed The annual Easter Egg Hunt, sponsored by the Walkerton Volunteer Fiie Department, will be held this Sunday after postponment was necessary last Sunday due to the rain. Once again, plenty of (indy eggs will be ready for all and many priz. eggs will be scattered for the many hunters in the various age groups. The Egg Hunt will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the Park in Walkerton. LIBERTY HOMEM \KERS MET The Liberty Homemakers Club met Monday, April 15 in the home of Mrs. Jerry Morris. Mrs. Merle Skaggs of South Bend gave a demonstration on china painting, having recently hand painted a dinner service set for eight. Following a white elephant sale refreshments were served to the 14 members and 2 guests present. Folks who look for trouble often underestimate their ability.
