Bowman St., died at 11:30 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Hospital of complications from a head injury suffered March 17 in an auto accident, according to St. Joseph County Coroner Dr, Harry A. Ludwick. He was pinned beneath his auto after missing a curve on Ind. 23 north of North Liberty. The car rolled over several times and he wasthrown from the auto before it landed on him. He was an employee of the Kaiser Jeep Corp. Born <>n Nov. 2. 1933, in Libertv Twp . he was a long-time resident of the North Liberty area. Surviving children. Randy L and Billy Beauchamp, George, Ronald and Judy Charles live with their mother. Georgia Beauchamp at 56697 Oak Rd.. South Bend. Also surviving are three brothers, Vernon of Syracuse, Ind.. Joseph of Union Mills and John of North Liberty: and two sisters, Mrs. Edna Mae Washhum and Mrs. Ruth E. Clayton, both of South Bend. Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the Palmer Funeral Home, with Rev. John W. Stalion, pastor of the Stull Memorial Church, officiating. Burial was at Southlawn Cemetery. George Collum Hillis George Collum Hillis. 68, of Rt. 2, Koontz Like, Walkerton, died at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in the E Street Division Hospital in LaPorte after a sudden illness. Ho was a retired communications engineer for Western Union Telegraph Co. Born on July 31, 1989, near Lake City. Colo., he lived in Koontz T^ike for the last three and a half years. On Sept. 12, 1931, he married Vivian Christman. She survives him along with two sisters, Mrs. Helen Marks of Portland. Oregon and Mrs. Gean Pollard of Spokane, Wash. Services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Nusbaum Funeral Home, Walkerton. Rev. Harold E. Williams, pastor of the United Methodirt Church of Walkerton, officiated. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton. He was a member of the Morgan Park Lodge No. 999 A.F. AM, Chicago, 111., the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Detroit, Mich., the Engineering Society of Detroit, the United Methodist Church, Walkerton, the Koontz Lake Conservation Club, and the Morse Telegraph Club of Toledo, Ohio. Masonic services were held at 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home by the Walkerton Masonic Temple. The family requests that memorials be given to the United Methodist Church building fund. Ixiren C. Knowlton Loren Clarence Knowlton. 87 of 103 S. Main St., North Liberty, died at 6 40 pm. Wednesday in his home after a four-month illness. A retired farmer, he was born Oct. 28. 1880. in Madison Twp. and was a lifetime resident of the North Liberty area. He was married April 4, 1908, in Plymouth, to the former Saloma Eisemenger. who survives. Also surviving is a son, Harley, of North Liberty, and two daughters. Mrs. Leota M. Joachim of North Liberty and Mrs. Flossie M Stump <>f Walkerton, seven grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren. Services were at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the North Liberty Christian Church with Dr. S. Robert J< hnston officiating. Burial was in Westlawn Cemetery. He was a member of the Christian Church. Community Club Hosts Spring Convention The Woman’s Community Club of Walkerton was host to the 79th Spring Convention of the St Joseph County Federation of Clubs held in the United Methodist Church on April 1. 1968. Presiding was Mrs. Forrest L Stuck, of South Bend county president. Rev. Richard Matteson of the United Missionary Church. Koontz Lake gave the Invocation. The Pledge of Allegiance lead bv Mrs H. C. Mattews. was followed by the National Anthem. To the welcoming address of Mrs Frank Helfrich, president of the Walkerton Woman's Club, Mrs Alb'-rt Wagner, South Bend, a long time member <>( the federation responded The Club President’s Report which is a resume of the actlvi ties and projects for the pas* year was submitted by each M the 13 clubs represented at the meeting. Emphasis during the year was on Community Improvement Projects. The St. Joseph County Federation was reported to be 100 U enrolled in this program. A simple memorial service wa* conducted by Mrs. Byron Whiteman. assisted by a representative of the clubs whose members were honored. The morning address "The Finished Tapestry." was given by Mrs. Lloyd Swoverland, 13th District President.
