Mr. and Mrs. Amos Burly and Mr. and Mrs Earl L. Smith returned recently from a two w< vks va< «tr»n sightseeing in Florida. Mr and Mrs. Glen Hostetler and Mr and Mrs Ted Hostetler returned Saturday evening from a two week vacation in Florida. Mr. and Mrs. Francis Lahore spent ten days in Florida visiting his father Mr Archie Laßere and wife at Dade City. Mrs. Oren Ringle of Argos, Mrs Audrey Mishler of Culver. Mrs. Dorothy Ruff of Tyner and Miss Adelaide Millard were recent visitors of Mrs. Rosa Beatty. Elaine Knowlton, daughter of Mr .and Mrs. Howard Knowlton has been elected Governor of sth floor of the womens section of Briscoe Quad Hall at Indiana University, Bloomington. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Bierly entertained with a dinner Sunday honoring the birthday of their daughter. Mrs. Arnold Balmer. Others present were Mr. Balmer and son. Greg, and Mark Bierly of Elkhart; Mr. and Mrs. Dean Affeld of Kalamazoo. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bierly and son, Gary. Mr. and Mrs. Amos Bierly were after-noon visitors. Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Hartsell have returned from a two weeks vacation in Florida where they visited her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Leltz in Fort Lauderdale, and d >ne some sightseeing. Enroute home they stopped overnight in Fort Myers, Florida and visited Mr .and Mrs. E. A. Lonzo who are sp< nding the winter there. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Kemp of Walkerton. are spending the Winter in their mobile home, at Jennings Fishing Camp, cn Lake Pierce at Dake Wales. Fla., and Mrs. Kemp was honored on her birthday with an out door patio party at the home of Mrs. William Morse, also living at th< Jennings Camp. Thirty one guests joined in the festivities. Those from this area attending the party were Mrs. George Ferverda, Mrs. Gus Verkier. Mrs. Clell Fout, Mrs. J. Smith and Mrs. Lonie Long. A beautiful decorated cake with candles, cookies, mints, nuts and Coffee were served. Mrs. Kemp received many lovely gifts and cards. David and Amy Lawrence of LaPorte spent the last week with their grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. David Lawrence, while their parents were visting relatives and friends in Ft. Lauderdale. Florida. Mr. and Mrs. Ward Awald returned recently from a six weeks vacation touring the state of Florida. While there they also visited Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Stahly and family in Jacksonville. and relatives and friends in Bradenton and Orlando. I FYE visitor Isabel CachoSousa. of Cajamarca. Peru stayed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Thompson and family from Feb. 18 to March 2. She visited the Marshall County area under the 4-H exchange program of the International Farm Youth Exchange. Lori Mullet, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Myron Mullet, Walkerton. will be formally installed on Sunday. March 10 into the Indiana State University chapter of Delta Psi Kappa, national professional fraternity for women in health, physical education and recreation.

Mrs. Edna Thompson has returned home from the Dor-Aline Nursing Home in Nries Michigan. Mr .and Mrs. Everett Shinn of Koontz Dike returned home Sunday from a month* vacation in Key West, Florida. Mr. and Mrs. Wilder Bumside were in Gary Sunday visiting Mr. Burnside’s brother, Mr. and Mrs. Berlin Bumside. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Walz returned home from a two weeks stay in Florida visiting Dr. and Mrs. V. B. Wolfe at Sebring Florida. Robert Urbin attended the regional tournament at the Elkhart gym on Saturday and also had dinner at the home of his sister, Dr. and Mrs. John Guttman and family in Wakarusa. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph N. Lafeber arrived home Sunday afternoon, after a three months stay in Homestead Florida. Homestead is not far from the Keys and with nice weather most the time they enjoyed their winter very much. Robert Mellin of Alhambra. California stopped in Walkerton over the week end to visit his mother. Mrs. Martin Mellin and sister. Mrs. Paul Jones and family. In a radio phone call you do not talk direct to the person but the message is transmitted via radio to a telephone operator in Hawaii who in turn calls direct to the home. Randy is serving with U.S. Naval Construction Unit MCB 58 in the Da Nang Area. He is an EON 2 which is an equipment operator crawler type such as a bulldozer or crawler crane as well as mobile equipment. A Seabee's main duty is that of construction, maintenance and damage repair of airstrips and operational bases, but the last few weeks it has been that of actual combat as well. He reports that the average work day Is 12 to 16 hours 7 days a week, that they are all well and that Lie food is filling.
