Name Speaker For World Day Os Prayer Service The World Day of Prayer drawns far out over the Pacific Ocean, this March 1, 1968. the first of a million Christians to gather. In this area the United Methodist Church of Walkerton will be host to a meeting, March 1 at 7 o’clock CST when a special program “Bear one Anothers Burdens" is being planned. This is the 80th year of a World Wide Day of Prayer, a tune when everyone has a chance to join with the Church of their choice for a local meeting, jointing racial, national and cultural boundries — to pray for the needs of the World. * t ci The churches participating here will be: United Methodist, First Presbyterian, St. Patrick Catholic and Pilgrim Holiness Churches of Walkerton. Aino Teegarden and Tyner EUB Churches; Koontz Lake United Missionary and the Tracy Methodist church. Other churches invited to participate were the United Pentecostal Church of Walkerton and aUo the First Baptist church of Walkerton and the GrovertOwn and Hamlet EUB Churches.

2.300 units of Church Women across the United States will observe this day of Prayer. Lxally the United Methodist Church will host a meeting of all heal above mentioned churches at a public meeting Friday evening. March 1, at 7 o’clock CST. For the pleasure of all, Mrs. Guy Davis of Culver. Indiana, a district officer of WSCS will Lathe speaker. Mrs. Davis, the wife of a retired dairy farmer has bren very active in all community activites and her church. She has held offices in local, district and State of the Indiana Extension Homemaker's Ass'n. a member of Marshall County Choral Society. Marshall County Parkview Hospital, of the Mental Health Cline. She directed a church orchestra for 20 years and has taught at Sunday School for over 50 years. These are only a few of the various duties she has performed. Mrs. Davis says she has had little time for hobbies but says her mental therapy is playing her Hammond Organ and working in her garden and flower beds. Mrs. <'tvde Bick who secured the services of this outstanding speaker promises her listeners in this area a real treat. Walkerton Town Board News The Board of Trustees of the Town of Walkerton convened in short business session, Tuesday Evening. Fcbraury 20th, with following in attendance: - V-Pres. G. W Ochs, presiding officer in absence of Pres. R. A. Nusbaum; Trustees C. K. Dill; O. C. White and K E. Huffstetter. Minutes of previous meeting were approved. Outstanding claims were prsented and following some were authorized payable from respective funds. Clyde Pearish Rural Route 2. North Liberty was appointed as new- custodian of the municiple dump, and will assume his new duties immediately. Following hours were established for useage
of the dump facilities nf 8 00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday; Friday and Saturday of eat h week. The dump will be dote d to public useage on each Wednesday and Sunday. Users of electricity from the Walkerton Electric Department were issued with their utility bills the Ist of February a permit that grant, them uaage of the dump without fee charge. All non-pt rmit user: will be charged as follows; ,50< for car load; 12.00 for pick-ui trucks or 2 wheel trailers; ss.Of for larger truck loads. Signs concerning hours and fee charge? have been ordered and will be placed upon arrival. K. L. Knep per, Utility Supt. was appointed to supervise operations at the dump To comply with public health regulations garbage collections will be covered each day by Mr. Pearish with equipment he will provide for said services. DtscussTon was given to regranting the Walkerton Ford Sales rental nf the town lot at corner of U.S. 6 and Illinois Street. A motion had carried at previous meeting that lease he rescinded at expiration of their present contract on March Ist. Matter being tabled for further consideration at next session when toll membership will be in attendance. Favorable comments were expressed for the recent placement of flasher type amber caution signal and directional sign unit placed nt curve in 300 block of Roosevelt Road that had been installed by the local electric department. It is also intent of the Board to petition the State to have area changed from the present 30 mile speed zone to 20 mile per hour speed zone, and Police Department instructed to closely' patrol this and all areas of th< town and strictly enforce traffic regulations. Police Department was also instructed to closely patrol the dump area and arrest violators of posted hours. Balance of meeting was spent in general discussions of departmental activities and future programming.
