Rural route 2, Walkerton, celebrated her sot. birthday on New Year s Day Sh* was born to Mr and Mrs Joseph E Ross, on January 1. 1888 on a farm south of Walkerton Sh was married on January 28. ’ to Edward Divine and they lived west of Tyner for several year and in 1913 moved to the present location on route 2. Walkerton. Mr. Divine died in January 19 A surprise celebration was held at the Walkerton Arm rican Legion on January 1. 1968 with a pot luck dinner. The board also approved an additional appropriation from the cummulative building fund to be used for purposes of construction. Contracts were signed with the Kalamazoo Printing and Machinery Co. for fix'd equipment for the industrial arts departments of the new high school, and for Mr. Henry Vos for site development. PLJ Board salaries will be increased from $125.00 per year to s3Oo.o<> per year with the salary change to become effective July 1, 1968. Teaching contracts were awarded to Miss Lillian Golden as a French teacher for grades 6-7-8 for semester two beginning January 22, and to Mr. Eugene Aimone as business education teacher for Glenn High School beginning January 22. Miss Golden will replace Mrs. Anne Cohn who will be moving from the area, and Mr. Aimom wall replace Miss Judy Filhnworth who will also be moving from the area. Conference attendance was approved for the corporations guidanc personnel for meetings at Butler University January 12, 1968. Ball State University January 22 for a workshop on test administration, and for the Indiana Personnel and Guidance Association Conference at French lack. Indiana on Friday and Saturday Feb. 2 and 3 1968. The superintendent received permission to attend the State Superintendents Association meeting at Indianapolis January 11-12. MiMdonary Convention The annual Missionary Convention of the United Missionary Church is scheduled to be held at the Koontz Lake United Missionary Church from January 17 to January 21. The following are the speakers that wall be heaid during the convention: John Moren, of Nigeria, will speak on January 17th. John Bontrager, of Nigeria, will spcitk on January 18th and 19th. Walkerton Lions To Host Glenn Honor Society The Walkerton Li<»ns Club will have quite a night for their January meeting this year, to be held on Tuesday, January 23, at the American Legion Hall in Walkerton. This will be a Ladies’ Night with special guests being the District Cabinet Secretary and his wife and the Honor Society of John Gb-nn High & h'-'i.
