Shamrocks Drop Final Game To South Centra] 25-14 Three touchdown passes by Chuck Emerick to halfbacks pushed the South Central Satellites to a 19-0 lead before North Liberty could get on the scoreboard an I paced a 25-14 win over the Shamrocks in the final game of the season last Wednesday night. Emerick's passes were mixed in just enough with a good running attack to make them effective and the big senior quarterback was sharp on his tosses when he needed to be. quickly getting one first down, they were then forced to punt to North Liberty, on the first play from scrimmage, Kevin Hostetler fumbled and Mike Niksch recovered for the LaPorte County team. However, the favor was returned immediately as Ray Huhnke fumbled on the next play and Wes Peterson recovered giving the Shamrocks the ball again. They moved to the South Central 26 yard line before failing to make a first down and the Satellites took over, first and 10 on their uwn 27. Four running plays and a North Liberty offside, netted a total of 41 yards before Emerick sent Huhnke out the left side and he took a pass all alone and scampered in for a 32 yard touchdown play. Emerick's try for the extra point failed and the Satellites led 6-0 after nine and a half minutes had passed. The Shamrocks took the following kickoff and began moving right down field. Joe Fisher returned the boot to the 39 yard line where the offensive drive started. Fisher and Hostetler did most of the running and a face mask violation against South Central eventually gave the Shamrocks a first and 10 on the Satellites 11 yard line. A safety valve pass to Fisher on the first down lost seven yards an' on the second play, a pitchout from quarterback Bruce Summerfield to Fisher went wild

and the Satellites recovered on the 30 to stop the Shamrocks threat at this point Possession of the ball changed hands twice on punts before Emerii k got his charges moving again. Taking possession following a Bill Albert punt, on their own 24, he started engineering another scoring drive. Niksch picked off one for nine yards and after a running play gained two for a first down, Emerick hit Niksch again for 46 yards as the big en I picked up over 15 yards with two Shamrocks fighting him but failing to stop the h;ud running senior end. Two running plays moved the ball to the 13 and on a third down play, again it was the right side of the Shamrocks secondary that left a wide opening as Emerick hit Denny Yagelski with the pass for the score. This time Emerick made the kick and the score was 13-0 with just 2:10 to play in the first half. Another break at this point helped the Satellites. After receiving the kickoff, two incomplete passes and one g<x»d, but for no yardage. forced a punting’ situation. On fourth down, Albert fielded a high snap and couldn’t get the punt off and was smeared on his own 23 yard line giving the Satellites the ball first and 10 on the Shamrock 23. Two straight passes were good for four and then 19 yards for the score as once again Yagelski slipped out in the same area to grab the ball for the touchlown. The p >int failed and with just 09 remaining in the half, South Central was now leading 19-0. Shamrock* Score Quickly The second half was a little different. With South Central kicking to North Liberty, Peterson returned to the Shamrock 42 where the drive started that led to the first .More. Hostetler was th workhorse, carrying the first four plays and building his way through the middle for 22 yards on these runs. Summerfield puked up three and Fisher broke lixnm! for 10 and the third quick first down. Hostetler gained three more and Fisher went wi Itfor 13, giving the Green and White a first and goal from the seven yard line. Fisher lost one on the first play, but Hostetler came back with a two yard gain. On third down. Summerfield rolled to his right, found a good block by Kenny Ross opening a hob- and moved into the corner of the end zone for the score. Surefooted Ronnie Young booted the point after and the score was now 19-7 with 7:08 left in the third period. The entire drive on the cround covered 58 yards in 11 plays. The Satellites weren't done on offense by any means and following the kickoff returned to the 39, they started another long scoring drive with 61 yards being covered. A mirture of running plays, two completed pusses and a Shamrock offside call moved the ball the entire way with big Emerick sneaking in the final yard for the score. This came with 40 left m the period so the two scoring drives, one by each team, used an entire quarter. A pass attempt on the extra point failed and the lead was boosted to 25-7. Neither team couli mount a sustained drive in the early part of the last period and for the exception of a 33 and 17 yard pass completion by Emerick to two of his receivers, not much happened until the Shamrocks recovered a fumble by reserve halfback Jerry Bennett on which Steve Eberly recovered late in the game. From this break on the South Central 12 yard line, it took five plays before Hostetler
