The scone featured in this week's “Memories In Pictures” column will bring back memories to some of the elder people of the area. In 1912, the 8.1. Holser & Co. Elevator. located at the same place as the present structure, caught fire and burned to the ground. This picture was taken prior to the complete destruction of the elevator. To the left of the picture is the old wooden bandstand, which in addition to providing its normal use. was used as a vantage point for several people during the fire. The picture was submitted by Mrs. M. B. Slick. Police Seize Two In Raid Monday A raid by the Indiana State Police and St. Joseph County Sheriff's Department resulted in the arrest of two women Monday night at a mobile home parked at the rear of the truck stop one mile west of Walkerton. Charged with prostitution were Mrs. Kathleen Bates, alias Shirley Luker, 34. of 180 E. Cleveland Road, Roseland; and Miss Catherine Moran, 32, of Route 3, Walkerton. The raid followed a two-week investigation after complaints about the activities at the location. During this time the former truck stop was kept under observation. More than two dozen officers and sheriffs deputies t<x>k part in the raid after a trooper had been used as bait by letting himself be solicited by the women. A signal to officers outside resulted in the immediate raid. Sheriff Elmer Sokol stated that investigation of the matterwill continue and that the St. Joseph County Health Department will be notified since the suspects also served as waitresses at the restaurant. a very good game basing this on the record of the two team. Last year the Bulldogs solidly beat the Falcons, but this year haven't had the success expected of them. Glenn's team seems to be gaining more confidence and experience which is paying off with better football. On occasions this season, they have played some real firn* football, while on others they have left something to be desired. Any man can train his conscience he goes the wrong way so long it seems right.
