Town Board News The Board of Trustees of the T i>wn of Walkerton convened in regular session Tuesday Evening, August 15th with Pres. W. L. Heil, Trustees L. T. Frailey and B B. Williams in attendance. Minutes of previous session Xvere approved and outstanding claims presented for consideration and following same were authorized payable from respective funds. Porter Paint Distributers, Koontz I^ake submitted an estimate to paint the exterior of the Municipal Building in the amount t $815.68 and were authorized to proceed with the work within the immediate future. The towns proposed rate as advertised is set at $1.50 per slou valuation, an increase of 2e over the town's present tax rate. The Lincoln Township 4-H Club granted usage of the uptown lot at coiner of U.S. 6 and Illinois Street for purpose of conducting an Ice Cream Social on September Ist. Permission was also granted to close Illinois Street dance in conjunction with their Ice Cream Social on this date. Officials of the New York Central Railroad were to be again contacted and request a more permannt repair of their crossing on West U.S. 6. The company had recently made repaiis with an asphalt fill that was quickly deteriorated from heavy traffic. SEITZ REUNION The annual Seitz reunion was held Sunday at the home of Mr. ani Mrs. Grant Steele with approximately 35 members present. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Seitz came the farthest distance, coming from Florida. Other guests were from Hammond, Munster. Gary. South Bend. Renssalaer and Walkerton. See You In' Church Sunday
St. Pats Women Plan Fall Fashion Show Mrs. Harry Hames, president of St. Patrick Women's club, met last week with her fashion show committee heads to begin plans for their tenth annual show. A choice of cards will again be available with table prizes, door prizes, favors and refreshments. The date is Wednesday, September 27, at 7:30 p.m. Mrs, Hamess, general chairman who contacted Levine's Boston Store, LaPorte, who will provide the latest in fashions with their own models. And she will arrange children models. Decor and theme decoration will be under the joint direction of Mrs. Carl Christensen and Mis. Michael Kochanowski. Tickets publicity, Mrs. Harry Malstaff; Refreshmnts, Mrs. Charles Vancza; Prizes and favors, Mrs. Sylvia Jorden and Kitchen, Mrs. Lawrence Turner. Better Hames (Tub To Hold Picnic The annual picnic for Better Homes Extension Club will be at the home of the president, Mrs. Howard Clingenpeel, Wednesday. August 23 beginning at 6:30 p.m. The cooperative dinner will have the meat furnished. A social evning will be enjoyed with another 4-H demonstration, a feature of the evening. An honor group winner. Mark Malstaff will give “Patio Capers" which he gave for the County Fair Audiences. Other 4-H demonstrations given last month were Kathy Lazarek and Patti West hues. Better Homes Extension Club has dedicated themselves to promote 4-H since they were organized in 1950, recognizing 4-H members with awards, trips and most recently a $50.00 donation to the new bleachers at the fair grounds. This spring they gave $30.00 to finance 4-H Round-up for two youngsters. NL Community Building Group Has Meeting The North Liberty Community Building Association met on Monday evening. August 7. the financial report, including the balance of indebtedness on the Community Building. A balance $3,300.00 still remains on the indebtedness. An annual Ox Roast is again being planned to help pay for the indebtedness. The Ox Roast is scheduled for Saturday, September 23. from 5:00 p.m. to B:UV p.m. No specific charge will be made for the meal but individuals may express their interest in our Community Building by a free will donation for the meal. NEWCOMER — STUMP REUNION The 64th annual reunion was held Sunday. August 13th at the Shenmen Grove east of North Liberty. A basket dinner was held at n<>on which was enjoyed by all. In the afternoon meeting was calh>d to order by president Pearl Stull who is a life time president. Other officers held over are Claude Shenemen, vice president; Blanche Pontius, SerTreas.; Program committee. Norma Patrick and Wanda Pontius and Edith Walter. Several contest were played and enjoyed by everyone. Pearl Stull gave a short history of Newcomer and Stuihp family. Pearl Stull has attended all 64 reunions. Bob Pontius showed slides which was enjoyed. The oldest married couple was Mr. and Mrs. L>rvn Knowlton; youngest. Mr. ani Mrs. Kenneth Fold The oldest person was Loren Knowlton; youngest, Todd Pontius 22 mo. Then* were fifty present. When money takes it ready tells some interesting tales.
