Mrs. T. A. Randall and children of Indianapolis spent several days last week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Lawrence. Guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight McKesson are Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Metheny and family of Bismark, North Dakota and Mrs. Maynard Johnson of Minot. North Dakota. PAST MATRONS AND PATRONS ENJOY PICNIC Thirty two persons attended the arulual picnic of past Matrons and Past Patrons of Walkerton Chapter 319, Order of the Eastern Star, Sunday July 16 at the Stuntz Pine Forest near Walkerton. Mr. Leonard Beaty gave the table blessing at the one o’clock meal. The buffet table was centered with a decorated cake brought by Mrs. Lorene Rector, who server as Worthy Matron in 19J« Miss Judy Roberts of Conova Park, Calif., came as a guest of her grandparents the Leanord Beaty's Mrs. Joseph Quirk, Kenosha, Wise, was a guest of her cousins the Wm. Steinwalds and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Swick and baby son of South Bend were guests of their parents, the John McCombs. Hostesses for the arrangement were: Mr. and Mrs. George Ferverda, Mrs. Leßoy Smith and Mrs. McCombs. Mrs. Glen Stahiy is president of the Past Matrons Club which sponsored the picnic.

Charles Gorsline. son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Gorsline, came home Sunday, July 9. He took his parents back to his home in Indianapolis, where they stayed until last Thursday. Jon, the young son of Mr. and Mrs. Leßoy Smith, Route 3, Walkerton received head cuts and a concussion when he was thrown from his pony last Saturday, near his home. Mrs. Ruby Schultz returned home after spending a two weeks vacation visiting her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Otto F. Schultz and grandchildren, Douglas and Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Schultz in Tucson, Arizona. During her stay, Dennis was promoted to Advertising Placement Manager for “Tucson Newspapers Inc.”, which publish the “Arizona Daily Star”, and the “Tucson Daily Citizen”. Mr. and Mrs. Otto Schmeltz were host for a family picnic in their home Sunday. Present were Mr. and Mrs. Peter Mark and daughters from Niles, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kolmer and children from Fort Wayne, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Jones and family from Michigan City, Mr. and Mrs. Linder Schmeltz and son, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Schmeltz and sons, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Schmeltz and family, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Hostetler and Mrs. Nora Hahn all of Walkerton. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Flowers from Palmetto, Florida, were afternoon callers. Karl Kolmer is spending the week on the farm.

Mrs. Erma Perry of Mishawaka visited friends in Walkerton Monday. Mr. John Cecrle of Anderson, Ind., spent the week end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Cecrle. Mrs. Hilda Center returned home Wednesday, July 12 from Parkview hospital where she was taken June 24 for a stroke on her left side and throat. Tom Bellinger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Bellinger has returned home from the University of Chicago Hospital after having eye surgery. Mrs. Ellen Brede and her house guest for the past week, Miss Marie Faivre of Clinton, lowa, Mrs. Newton Williams and Mrs. Dorothy Walsh spent last Mrs. Brede in South Haven, Michigan. Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sheaks were Mr. and Mrs. Roy Sheaks of Crown Point. Ind., Mr. and Mrs. Orville Mapes of Niles, Mich., and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Sheaks and sons. Billy and Bobby of Lockport. 111., honoring the weekend guests Mr. and Mrs. Frank Egly of Daytona Beach. Florida. Also, word has been received that Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sheak’s son. Jerry, arrived in Houston. Texas on Tuesday, for a short stay with his brother Larry, on his way to California. 50 YEARS A MASON Charles M. Finch, Hanna. Ind., former Editor and publisher of the Walkerton Independent has received the 50th Anniversary Golden Pin Award from the Grand Masonic Lodge of Indiana, signifying his fifty years as a Mason. Mr. Finch was made a Mason at Gas City, Ind., where he was principal of the high school. Later he transferred his membership to Lodge 619, Walkerton, where he served in various capacities, including Worshipful Master. He is also a member of Scottish Rite, Valley of South Bend.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Taylor and family of Memphis, Indiana were week end guests of his brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Norma Taylor. Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Culp of Arcadia, Florida arrived last week for a visit with Mrs. Culp's son and wife. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Guard and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Watts and Norma received word last Thursday of the announcement of the birth of a son on July 13 to their son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Watts in Lawton, Okahoma. Ida, Doug, and Jerry Krohn and Gale Mayfield spent Saturday in Stevensville, Mich, visiting Mrs. Krohn’s cousin, Ray Bradley and family and her uncle, H. D. Bradley, in Berrien Center, Mich, whom she hadn’t seen for about 25 years. The Bradleys lived in Walkerton before moving to Michigan.
