Her butterfly veil was secured with a high crown accented with pearls and sequins, and she carried a white orchid on a Bible. Miss Janie Lee, of Walkerton, w is her sister's maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Elaine Knowlton and Miss Peggy Kinney, both of Walkerton. The attendants wore gowns of ■lne dotted swiss that featured scoop necklines and Empire
waists accented with matching velvet ribbons. White lace ruffles highlighted the elbow-length sleeves and tiny velvet bows and streamers provided back interest. The best man was the bridegroom’s brother, Duane Freeman, of Walkerton. Ushers were Lewis Snyder and James Kinney, both of Walkerton. Following a inception in the church’s Fellowship Hall, the newlyweds left on their wedding trip to Michigan. They will be at home in Walkerton after July 23. The bride is a graduate of John Glenn High School. Walkerton, and the bridegroom graduated from North Liberty High School. KOf C Club News Everett Patnaude conducted his first meeting as Grand Knight of St. Patrick Council 5709 Knights of Columbus Thursday night at the K of C Hall. He announced the following appointments: Zenon John Muchowics, sixpoint chairman: Bernard Westhues, Catholic Activities Chairman; Edward Zapinski, Council Activities Chairman; John Renbarger, Paternal Activities Chairman; Ronald Savoie, Youth and Columbian Squire Chairman; and Michael Kochanowski, Public Relations Chairman. Also the Rev. Anthony Letko, Chaplain; Frank Glentzer. Lecturer; and Jerry Groves, Financial Secretary. Three directors were elected to the Angelo Club’s official business group of the K of C’s They are Leo Savoie, Ronald Savioe and Francis Glentzer. A. J. Kennedy had recently replaced George Kostin who has moved to Kentucky. Immediate past Grand Knight Harry Malstaff was congratulated on the appointment as District Deputy of Sixth District Knights of Columbus. The annual family Picnic was held at Verkier Woods Sunday, July 16. Mr. Zapinski as Council Activities chairman was in charge and conducted contest games for the children and adults with many prizes awarded. Mr. Malstaff roasted the barbarqued beef for a noon dinner to serve 51 adults and 43 children present. Community Club Completes 46th Successful Year The Woman’s Community Club of Walkerton closed a successful year on June 30, by holding its Anniversary Party at the Wagon Wheel Playhouse in Warsaw’. After a fine dinner 20 members and friends attended a presentation of Funny Girl. On May 19, members and friends enjoyed a luncheon at Tinker’s followed by a tour of Friendship Gardens in Michigan City. Throughout the year a variety of programs have been presented. We were fortunate indeed to have had the excellent cooperation of our local and area talent. Our several projects provided funds which in part were donated to a Nurses Scholarship and a contribution to the Walkerton Community Recreation Project. In a few short months the Club, under the direction of its President. Mrs. Frank Helfrich will embark on its 47th year. The first meeting will be held at Sheneman’s Grove on September 1, at 12:00 noon and will be a carry-in luncheon. Ine., has concluded a sales promotion among its employees. It was the first such contest ever conducted by the Telephone Company, and was highly successful. Home Ec Club Has Meeting The July meeting of the Oregon Township Home Economic Club was held Tuesday the eleventh, at the home of Mrs. Adaline Flaherty. Roll call was responded to by eight members and two guests.
