□-- - □ MARRIAGES □ - □ Pincrel — Daube Miss Susan Pingel, North Judson and James L. Daube, Walkerton exchanged wedding vows at a candlelight services Saturday evening, June 24, in the North Judson Methodist Church. Rev. Paul Baker of North Judson and Rev Harold Williams, pastor of Walkerton officiated at the eight o’clock ceremony. Lighted candelabra and yellow gladioli with fern adorned the altar area of the church. The pews were decorated with lighted hurricane lamps and yellow bows. The bride wore a gown of white bridal linen fashioned with empire bodice, modified scoop neckline and elbow length sleeves, highlighted with flounced cuffs of Venice lace. A detachable chapel length train edged with matching lace, fell from the A-line skirt, accented at the back waistline with a tailored bow. Her bouffant veil of imported silk illusion was held by an open crown of matching Venice lace. The bridal bouquet was made of white baby orchids and stpehanotis. Miss Carolyn Smith, North Judson was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Harrison Fields sister of the bride and and Miss Linda Daube of Walkerton, niece of the groom. The bridal attendants were attired in floor length gowns of yellow linen. were matching crowns and net, and they carried white stephanolis and greenery. Larry Anderson of Walkerton was the best man. Richard Houser, Walkerton and Kenneth Pingel, North Judson, brother of the bride were ushers. The bride's mother wore a two-piece dress of pink lace with white accessories. Her corsage was a pink orchid and stephanotis. The mother of the bridegroom wore a blue lace dress with white accessories and a blue orchid and stephanotis. Immediately following the ceremony a reception was held in Fellowship Hall of the church. The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Pingel North Judson, graduated from North Judson High School and attended International Business College at Fort Wayne and is employed at the American State Bank in North Judson. The groom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Daube of Walkerton. graduated from Walkerton High School and also attended International Business College. Pfc. Daube is on leave from the Army and will report soon for overseas duty. Duthie — Burchfield Miss Laurel Emilyn Duthie and Wayne Burchfield were united in marriage, Satuday July 1, at 3:30 o’clock in the Koontz Lake United Missionary Church, with the Rev. Paul Loucks officiating. Miss Duthie is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oren Duthie, Koontz Lake, R.R. 3 Walkerton and Mr. and Mrs. Guy Burchfield of Gary are the parents of the bridegroom. The bride wore a street length sheath dress of white ribbon on net, styled with three quarter length sleeves and round neckline. Her shoulder length veil of silk illusion was held by a crown of white daisies. She carried a colonial couquet of white daisies. The maid of honor was Miss Jane Blaisdell of Indianapolis. She wore a street length dress of pale green lace. A crown of yellow daisies was in her hair.
She carried a colonial bouquet of yellow daisies. Gerald Miller of Chicago served as best man. A reception for the immediate families was held in the church social room following the ceremony. Following a wedding trip the couple will reside in Chesterton Indiana where the bride is a teacher in Special Education in the Chesterton school. She graduated from Grovertown High School in 1962 and from Indiana University in 1966. She will be attending Indiana University Center in Gary this summer, working on her Masters degree. Mr. Burchfield is employed as Assistant Manager in Production Scheduling for Bethlehem Steel at Burns Harbor. Q_-- - - D DEATHS □ □ Mi*. Gladys Lauer Word was received in Walkerton, Sunday, of the passing of Mrs. Lauer of Fort Wayne, in the Memorial Hospital in Fort Wayne, Sunday, July 2. Funeral services were held Wednesday from the McKee Funeral Home in Garrett, Indiana. Mrs. Lauer leaves a son, Alan Behls of Manchester, Conn., a step daughter, Mrs. Jack Resler of Ligonier, Ind., a stepson, Bud Lauer, Chicago. Also two sisters, the Misses Alice and Violet Hall of Garrett. Mr. Lauer who died June 30, 1966 and Mrs. Lauer were former residents of Koontz Lake during the war years when both were employed at the Kingsbury Ordance Plant. Girl Scouts Go Camping Seventeen members of the Junior Girl Scout Troop #197, with their leaders, Mrs. Ronald Steinke and Mrs. Harry Steinke, went troop camping at the Stuntz Pine Forest, June 26, 27 and 28th. At 9:30 a.m. on the 26th they set up 8 tents in the wilderness camp-site. Some of the high-lights were the over the open fire cooked foods such as barbecue chicken, baked potatoes, bacon and eggs Cooked on top of 3 pound coffee cans, and cupcakes baked in orange rinds. Crafts taught and practiced were: charcoal drawings, weaving on Hungarian looms, and stitching on burlap. A hayride given by Mr. Stuntz gave the girls a view of the Indian burial mound located in the forest The first night at camp the Junior Troop had as guests the Cadette Troop #55 of Walkerton who were also en-camped in the forest. They were entertained by Mrs. Roy Wilson who played her guitar and sang songs and accompanied the girls at their favorite songs. The two leaders were assisted by many local women in making the three day campout a success. Three Senior Scouts; Miss Linda Boone, Miss Carla Searfoss and Miss Linda Wilson also were in attendance and assisted. The eleven membrs of the Girl Scout Cadette Troop #77, had an enjoyable three day camping out at Stuntz Pine Forest, June 26, 27, 28. Their main lessons were concretated on Outdoor Cooking. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Wayne Bellinger, Mrs. Walter Lowry, and Mrs. Robert Han«y. ThiK was our last meeting until September and the announcement with Mrs. Esther Dearing June 30. Also we will have our picnic for members and their families on Sunday, August 20 at the lake home of Mr. and Mis.
