Shamrocks Second In NSC Meet' Glenn Is Fifth (Delayed) Jimtown High School won the second annual Northern Indiana Conference Track Meet last week in a close battle with North Liberty and New Carlisle as they recorded 79 points to runner-up North Liberty's 73 and New Carlisle’s 69**. La Ville was fourth with 21 and John Glenn last with 13^4. The weather wasn’t good for this meet, but two records were set in the action with three boys sharing one in the pole vault. Jim Fraser, Ron Young and Jim McGraffey each cleared ll'7t 8 " but McGraffey, of Jimtown. was d<*clared winner on basis of fewer misses. Young and Fraser, both of North Liberty, shared second and third with the same number of misses. Dan Engel, of New Carlisle, won two events in which he set a new record in the high jump with a leap of 6’^»”. He also won the long jump. Mike Kavas, of Jimtown. was a double winner as he raced home first Th both the 100 and 220 yard dashes and also anchored the winning half-mile relay team. Glenn Baseball Team Boosts Record To 4-1 (Delayed) The John Glenn Baseball Team played three games last week end winning two and dropping one. The Friday game, at Culver, was the first loss of the season for the Falcons as Culver took advantage of several Glenn errors in the third inning to get the win. On Saturday, the Falcons traveled to LaCrosse to play a double header and came home with a pair of victories. Culver 5 - Glenn 3 The Friday game found Glenn getting a two run lead in the second inning on two hits, but saw their lead fall in the last of the third inning w’hen Culver put together two hits with four Falcon errors for a five run inning. The Falcons got a third run in the sixth inning on a walk and a hit, but the damage had been done and the final score was 5-3, Culver. Lindvall was the winning pitcher and DeMyer the loser in this game. LaCrosse Falls Twice The Falcons got off on the right foot early Saturday afternoon in a twin bill at LaCrosse as a double by Greg Amor in the

first inning chased home Craig DeMyer who had walked and the Falcons gained a lead they never lost. They scored again in the second, again on an Amor hit with John Walker scaring the run. The final run in the 3-0 shutout win was singled home by John Stasko after Gary Trost had reached on a walk and stole second. Jim Place was the winning pitcher in this game giving up four hits. Rinkenberger was the loser for LaCrosse yielding six hits to the Falcons. The second game was a little different. The Falcons again scored first with four runs coming home in a big second inning. Amor walked, stole second and came home on Trost’s hit. Ross walked and a double steal put runners on second and third. An error on Walker’s ground ball brought in one and DeMyer then got a hit that drove in both Ross and Walker. A gift run was scored in the third as Hellinga and Amor walked and Trost got a hit to load the bases. Ludwig then walked to force Hellinga home. LaCrosse broke the ice In the fourth on a run on two hits and a fielders choice. In the fifth, they came back with another run on three hits and a walk, In the last

of the seventh, they put on a rally that pulled them within one run of the Falcons as three hits, a walk and an error let three runs home, but the side was retired, ending the game with the tying and winning runs on the bases. DeMyer was the winning pitcher and Rochman was the loser. The Falcons had six runs on eight hits and committed three errors while the LaCrosse team managed five runs on 10 hits and while the LaCrosse teani managed five runs on 10 hits and made four errors. North Liberty Boy Killed In Accident (Continued from page 1) had passed over the child. He was pronounced dead at the scene by a North Liberty doctor. He had suffered a fractured skull. A private funeral was held Friday, May 19, in the Palmer Funeral Home with the Rev. Thomas Frost, pastor of the North Liberty Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in the West lawn Cemetery.
