Dr. Max Ib bbs, spoke on "A New Look At Education", and Carroll Zartman president <>f the school board, gave a few words. Ray Chapman president of Hie building corporation also had some comments and the school band played the s<ho*4 song. Following this the actual ground breaking was held with Cindy Martin first handling the chores. The presidents of the four classes followed with their help on the shovel, then the School Board and the Building Corporation pitched in < n the earth turning. Dr. Hobbs and Mr. Muncie were the last two to grab the shovel in the ceremony. The "Star Spangled Banner b;, the band then concluded the program. School Board Sells Bonds The Polk - Lincoln - Johnson School Corporation received bids on May 3, 1967, 2:00 p.m. C.D.S.T. for $1,180,000 of first mortgage bonds for constructing a new John Glenn High School. Bids were submitted by the City Securities Corporation of Indianapolis - net interest of 4.5261.3, Merrill. Lynch, Pierce. Senner and Smith, Inc., of Indianapolis, 4.58147, and Shears-Ni, Hammill and Co., Inc., Indianap lis. 4.5631. The bonds were awarded to City Securities at a m t interest
