Destruction of pn perty to this extent is a crime. In the slicing of 14 or 15 tires, damages amount to quite a few dollars. Many other cases of similar things have been reported and very seldom is punishment handed out to the guilty parties. This isn t just local, it is everywhere. Even our supreme court has handed down rulings that has let murders run free due t unfair questioning at the time of the arrest. This is more sen us but still, many a harden- d ' ’ir il has stemmed fi mi thi veunio i hoys that got awax with > :v thine small to start with y< ars before. It used t be a regular column in the Walkerton and North Liberty papers to run police news and basically names were u>ed in most cases However. over the rears reporting of the police news became so parti.il, with nlv a fraction of the violators being reported.

Innocent kids usually get the bulk of the unfair criticism for acts committed by just a few. Names would eliminate this. We would like very much to again lun a complete Police News column each week and try in this small way to put a curb on some of the action that has been going around. One real strong violation is the < ontinually growing problem with underage p< < pie drinking. Not just IS. 19 or 20 year olds, but 14 and 15 year olds as w< 11. Somewhere there is a source for the-e kids to obtain. Often this leads to trouble of < m kind or an< ther. Seldom is anything don<* about it. It is time that a little stricter enforcement. more punishment and bringing this to light to the pmdii is becoming a r» ality. If such ii< n would help curb any form of trouble it would be Worth every cent of money or ounce of effort it takes to slow down the jet set and wise up the ol«ier ones as well. Official an I complete reporting of police action, not just court news, can hurt where the pain needs to be . . . right in the violators < wn mind. It is time this is started again and done completely not just for those who are unfortunate enough to get rep rlt d while others rre omitted.
