Shong 4th Period Gives Shamrocks Win Over Glenn A hot streak by La Marr Weso]ck that netted three straight baskets from the right hand rob ner and an all-over good list quarter by the Shamrock train, pulled North Liberty from a possible loss to a win over John Glenn high scho* 1 Friday night Up until the lu it period, a game that featured hard working defense and some real rugged action under the boards. the game was nip-and-tuck all the way. The Falcons held a had until the streak by Wwmlek overcame the lead in favor of the Shamnxks. With 5 12 showing in the game, the Falcons had just taken a 4439 lead on a pair of free throws by Jerry Sheaks. Then Wesolck went tn work. He had been pretty well contained up to this point, but his first basket of the string was a jumper from the right corner. This came with 516 on the dock. A half minute passed before he plunked another from this same spot and with 4 20 to play, a third on from the right aide gave the Shamroc ks a lead they never lost. Joe Gmaer followed with a 20 footer from the top of the circle before Sheaks came kick for the Falcons with a 13 foot jump, r after almost two and a half minutes with m a score. Ned Baughman then took a fine lead pass from Jim Fraser for his only basket of the game, a lay-in, following a missed Falcon shot. Wcsolek then side the ball out front and laced the entire floor for a Iny-tn all rrtone The final score was 56-49 as Les Cable and Steve Mlekodaj each hit baskets and the rest of the points came on free throws for the two dubs. The win boosted the Shamrock record to 9-3 and dropped the Falcons to 6-4 for the season. The game was close all the way. The scoring started slow as both teams were really Working on the defensive side ns w*dl as rebounding hard Cable got the scoring started with one of two free throws after just 19 seconds had p.isswl. Fraser put the first Shamrock pants in 15 aeconds later, but Greg Amor came back with a short nnehander forth Falcon* with less than a minute gone, Wesdrk hit his first basket of the night for a 4-3 lead, but Sheaks tu-d the score with < ne of two free throws Gmzrr hit from outside but Sheaks again knotted the count with another pair of charity shots.
