Norman Havis was apprehended for driving without a license and testified in juvenile court that he had attended a party at the Dußois Club and was offered the use of a car by a Dußois club member, although the club member was aware that he didn't have a license. Harvis mentioned th-* many inducements proffered to - ntice teenagers to join the organization. Parties at the club; use of a car: and in his ease, the appeal was on the basis of negro Civil Bights. The Harvis youth further testified that he attended one ideological meeting. "They show you slides about Russia and told us communism is just an association to show you your rights. They dvseribe communism as exactly the । pposite of what it really is." The club’s acting chairman, a graduate student, is Gaylord King of Portland. Oregon. He is attending Indiana Universty on a Federal Grant and was indicted by a Federal Grand Jury in Portland last November for failing to report for induction into the Armed Forces last September. However, it was reported that King has not been arraigned on this charge, "because he promised to go into the service in June upon completion of his graduate work." Edgar Hoover, Director of the F 8.1. who considers the DuBois Clubs to be the youth arm -if the Communist Party. The citizens of every state should see to it that these activities are headed off. Otherwise, we must assuredly soon see the day when th-- riots, demonstrations and other nefarious activities of the DuBois Clubs and allies, are beyond the ability of our local police t > control. Any person who has evident e that any organization is operating outside the law, should call it to th-- attention of a legal agency. The question is not whether the club members have a right to express themselves; they have that right. The question is whether th-*ir efforts to exp ess themselves should to any extent be underwritten and sustained by the taxpayer of Indiana. NL Jr High Wins sth In A Row On October 17, the North Liberty Jr. High Football team defeated New Carlisle by a final score of 12-7. capturing their fifth straight victory. This ended the Shamrock Junior High season with a final record of five wins and one loss. The loss, in the season opener, was suffered in a 13-0 game at Bremen. The victories came at the hands -if Rolling Prairie. 18-7: LaVilk. 31-14: South Central. 26-7; Knox. 3711; and New Carlisle. 12-7. Coach Dunnuck was assisted this season by Jim Davis, a graduate of North liberty High School, and a student teacher this fall in the high school, completing his requirements for a teaching license The final season victory was especially exciting since the New Carlisle team was undefeated going into the game. A total of 30 boys wen* on the squad this year. Included in this group were 19 Bth graders and eleven 7th grade boys. St. Patrick Women’s Club To Meet Wednesday A panel of American women will p'ovide the program Wednesday night, Nov. 2, for women of the community at the regular meeting of St Patrick Women's Club. The program will begin promptly at S pm at the St Patrick School Hall A cordial invitation is extended to the women -if the various church''- to be present. There is no admission charge. This p mel of American Women originated in Kansas City, Missouri. eight years ago as a s-nt of one evening performance.
