As it I.- ulted. the Dodgers did not si lie anothet run in the entire .series. Drawbowski's strong peifonnance in relief and the runs the Orioles already had were • n ugh. Number one went to Baltimore 5-2, but still the D<Kigers Wi re rated slight favorites as thex - had their ace Sandy Koufax to st nt th.- second game. KOUFAX DID TAKE THE mound and he started a real old fashioned pitching duel with young Jim Dalmer. However, things were to happen that could not have been predicted regardless which \xay out you might be. Two dropped fly bails in one inmng. on< followixl with a throwing error, all by Willie Davis, was more than even Koufax could survive. Meanwhile, back in the batters box. the Dodgers were still t: .ing to figure out how to get i r in. They never found the secret and by this time it was two games to n ine. Baltimoi ON SATURDAY. These two hooked up m anothei of these pitching duels that xvas derided by one swing of the bat. Paul Blair hit a homer in the fifth and even though Baltimore picked up only three hits to the Dodger’s six. Bunker did the job with that on. run and Baltimore had taken three in a row from the Dodgers.

SUNDAY WAS IT. BALTI - more had sights on four in a row. but still anything can happen in baseball. The same pitching alignment followed that is usually the < ase In the series, the two men that started the first game are back for the fourth. Onee again another duel of pitchers until Erank Robinson came to bat in inning number four. He put a supercharge in one and the Birds again had a 1-U lead. Yuung Ait McNally was pitching fine and the result was. another 1-0 victory and the Dodgers had established records in losing m four straight games. Despite the fact theli pitching didn't let them down, the Dis Angeles boys were a badly beaten team, getting less than 20 hits in the series and scoring a grand total of two runs. BALTIMORE DIDN’T EXACT1\ tear the cover off the ball, but the fine pitching by the three young starters and Drabowski in relief m file first game, had given them the sweep. Manager Hank Bauer and his coaches have d. ne a fine job with this Baltimore team and deserve everything thex won. Everyone knows that the addition of Frank Robinson was like a gift from heaven, but nevertheless. this team won becau. e the entile team came through in both the season and series. The success Baltimore has had with young players this season was unbelievable. They suffered through injuries and everything else, but always had someone picking up the extra load to cany them through. Thex de. < rv. the title of World . Champ.on> of 196 K.
