North Liberty Police News The following persons were arrested and fined in Justice of the Peace Mobley’s Court in North Liberty: Julius Vargo, 1635 S. Nash St., South Bend, was arrested by Trooper Mortensen for failure to yield Hght of way. He was fined $lO and costs. The violation caused an accident at the intersection of Road 23 and New Rd. James Ritchie of Crumstown, was arrested by Trooper Jacobson f »r reckless driving and leaving the scene of a property damage accident at the intersection of Road 23 and New Road. Ritchie was stopped and held by Officer Zent of the North Liberty police. Ritehie was fined $25 and costs for leaving the scene, and $lO and costs for reckless driving. Roy T. Ritehie of North Liberty, was arrested by North Liberty Officer Zent for reckless driving. Ritchie was cast bound on Center St. and lost control of his car and struck two trees. St., North Liberty, was arrested by Zent for violation of the antinoise law. He was squealing his । tiles at the intersection of SR 4 anJ SR 23 at 1:50 a.m. Sunday morning. He paid a fine of $1 and costs. Phillip M. Lappin of Rt. 2, North Liberty, was arrested by Officer Zent for failure to carry his registration. He was stopped Sunday evening at 11:30 p.m. for racing the engine of ins motorcycle. Large Turnout For WSCS Meeting A large attendance was present Wednesday evening. September 14, for the WSCS meeting of the Walkerton United Methodist Church. Special guests were ladies of the St. Patrick Women's Club. Mis. Loren Goode, president, opened the meeting with a reading "Walking The Road That Counts", and a welcome to all those present. Mrs. Mahlon Jacob presented pin awards to Mrs. Eugene Skinner for her 12 ye trs as secretary to the organization; to Miss Adelaide Millard for seven years as the Spiritual Life chairman, and to Mrs. Richard Anderson Jr. as campus ministry chairman for the past four years. Mrs. Omer Fry report^ on tne program materials and named the suggested reading lists for
the coming year. Mrs. Anderson told of the six circles recently organized. Mrs. Fred Bullinger gave an interesting report on the School of Missions she attended this summer at DePauw University. Mrs. Kenneth Klintxlinst presented an organ prelude of hymns. Devotions were given by Mrs. Fry. Mrs. Bullinger then introduced the program for the evening. Mrs. Ray Chapman who sowed movies and slides of her month stay in Alaska as a missioner. The Jesse Lee Home in Anchorgae. Alaska, where ths group made their headquarters, houses the emotionally disturbed children and children from broken homes. The young people from this area and their leaders, including Mrs. Chapman, worked with the natives in teaching them the American way of cultivating, clearing and planting their land. They held dally Bible Study and Worship Services with the children. Mrs. Chapman had prepared a Worship Table for her program which consisted of a cover for the table made of seal skin. Four candles in the form of totem poles were representing Love, Forgiveness, Truth and Mercy. Also on display were the Worship and Study literature they used as well as many mementoes of her visit. She dosed her program with a prayer. The Faith Circle were hostesses for a salad bar in the dining room, following the meeting.
