Name Committees For Chicken Barbecue The Walkerton Lions Club Chicken Barbecue will be held this Sunday at the Walkerton Youth Building. Serving for the annual event will begin at noon with a full menu accompanying the fine barbecued chicken. Everyone is invited to come and have their dinner at the Youth Building or take advantage of the carry-out service available this year. Committees have been named by the club for this with president Denslow Doll serving as the main chairman. All Lions not designated on a special committee will work inside under the direction of Russell Rhine. Bob Urbin will have charge of the cooking detail which wall begin at 9:30 in the morning. On this committee are Jake Powell, Harkin Kepcha., James Capek, Bob Gardner, Clyde Bick. Charlie Briggs, Dick Cline. Russell Hartsough. Bob Hiler, Dick Kersh, John McGovern. Dennis Northam, Jim Reed, Harold Rizek, Henry Szady, Jack Tiede and David Mellin. Lee Frailey will be in charge of coffee and the barbecue sauce. Clyde Chapman will handle the ice tea. Harold Muncie is in charge of set-up with Le<>n Verhaeghe. Alvin Boise, John Hans. Rolla Baumgartner, Larry Taylor, David Whaley and Anthony Kupferer serving on this committee.

John Wathen and Wayne Burch will handle tickets and money. A. J. Kennedy, Bob Flaugher and Agnew Ludwig will be in charge of carry-outs. Clean-up will be taken care of by Bill and Marvin Bouse and Agnew Ludwig. All Lions will have work to do and many of the wives will also assist. Tickets for the Barbecue can be purchased from any Lions Club member. In case of a heavy rain, the date will be moved back one week. Legion Post 189 To Host District Legionnaires Legionnaires and their wives from the Third District American Legion wall convene at Walkerton Sunday, September 25, for a district meeting, beginning at 2 p. m. at the Post Home here. The guests wall be from LaPorte, Michigan City, South Bend, Mishawaka. Nappanee, Bremen, Plymouth, Argos, Culver. Wakarusa. North Liberty, Fish Lake and Bristol. Third Distinct Commander Dart Bemenderfer, of Goshen, will preside with local Commander William Flaugher in charge of arrangements. During the business meeting, plans for the October Conference at Indianapolis will be discussed. A supper will be served by the wives of the local post officers. Obey the tiaffic laws
Walkerton Town Board News The Board of Trustees of the Town of Walkerton convem-d in regular session Tuesday evening, September 20, with full attendance of the board responding to call. Minutes of previous meeting were accepted. Outstanding claims were presented and authorized paid from respective funds. Legal notice to bidders was authorized published for the bulldozing and leveling of municipal dump for a one year period commencing in October. Delbert Clingenpeel, Rt. 1, is the present contractor. The board was advised that State Highway Commission had granted verbal permission for the erection of an overhead traffic blinker Ight at the intersection of St. Rd. 23 and Washington St., (elementary school crossing) and at U. S. 6 and Georgia St. Authorization was given to place an order for the two units with personnel of the Utility Department
