Carl just returned from Korea and is leaving for California to be discharged from the Marines alter twenty years of service in that branch. The Cook family has arranged to move to Kalama z<m>, Michigan. Miss Theresa DeVos. a student at Elkhurt University, spent the week end with her parents and entertained Miss Maude Kress of Bra Iley, 111., as her guest. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Squire, .lane and James of Valparaiso, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. George Kostin and family on Labor Day. They all helped to celebrate Mrs. Squire's birthday on Monday. Mrs. Squire is a sister of Mrs. Kostin. Mr and Mrs. E. W. Amick spent several days last week as guests of Mr. and Mrs. Orville Devlin, in Evansville, Wisconsin Over the week end the Amicks entertained Mrs Betty Simms and Mrs. Nadia Konig of Chicago Mrs Amelia Harrison attended a birthday party for her son-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Waranowski attended the funeral of Josephs brother. Edward, who died in St. Joseph Hospital. Chicago, September 2. Burial was held on Tuesday from Holy Cross Chur, h there with interment in St. Casimer Cemetery, Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. James Scales and two daughters, of Oak Lawn. 111., were guests of Mr. and Mrs James Blackburn and two sons over the week end. The regular monthly meeting of the Koontz Lake - Oregon Township Fire Department will tie held Monday, September 12. at the fire station. The meeting is scheduled for 7 30 p.m. and all firemen are urged to be present. Jesse Burkholder, father of Mrs. Clifford Ecker, passed away last week at Tyner, and was buried in Plymouth. Elmer Hartke returned home after spending nine days at the Serpent River Camp. Ontario, Canada, fishing. Mr. and Mrs. Oren Duthie attended the funer d of Russell Duthie last Friday at Skokie 111., where he passed away Tuesday evening. Laurel Duthie, daughter of Mr and Mrs. Oren Duthie, is now teaching school in Chesterton, having received ho degree from Indiana University last June. Mr. and Mis. William Kranenburg entertained then daughter and children over the week end. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Finwall, of Worth. Illinois. Mark E. Sorgenfri of Walkerton. and Mr and Mrs Floyd Whiteleather and daughters of South Bend, visited recently with Esther Harman. Legion .Auxiliary The constitution and by-laws were reviewed and department convention reports were the order of business at the regular meeting of the Walkerton American Legion Auxiliary Thursday evening.
