McCombs - Swick The Walkerton United Method; t Church was the scene of a candlelight wedding ceremony at 7 p.m. Saturday, August 27. uniting Miss Rebecca Elizabeth McCombs and Robert Ernest Swick. White and gold baskets of triangular arrangements of white gladioli, stocks and lemon leaf, and candelabra decorated the altar. White satin bows marked the pews. Rev. Ike Strain officiated for the double ring ceremony. Mrs. Ike Strain, Arlington Heights, 111., as organist, accompanied her husband. Rev. Ike Strain, for the vocal numbers. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John McCombs, Rt. 2, Walkerton, near Millcreek. Parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Ernest H. Swack, 922 Diamond Ave., South Bend. Ind.

The bride, escorted by her father, chose a gown of white silk organza, fashioned with Empire bodice, modified scoop neckline, double belled sleeves, A-line skirt, highlighted by a very full chapel train. French Alencon lace motifs, accented by pearl and crystal design, appeared at the neckline, on front of skirt and down center back of train. A narrow edging of the lace encircled the b< dice and edged the sleeves. A plateau of seed pearls and crystals held the bouffant veil of imported silk illusioi She candl'd a crescent cascade of white mums and shattered mum petals backed with leather leaf. Maid of nonoc •<», the wedding was a cousin of th? bridegroom, Miss Susan Todd, if Indianapolis. First bridesmaid was Miss Eileen Davitt, South Bend, cousin of the bride. Other bridesmaids were Miss Elaine Shoe-

maker. LaPorte; Miss Kath} - McGawn. and Miss Karen Pluniback, both of Nev. Carlisle, Ind. The attend nts wore identical floor length neath gowns of sea mist corded taffeta styled with Empire slee eless bodice and a scooped neckline topping a modified A-line skirt. Then gowns were topped by Holiday green taffeta coal . with short sleeves, and an empire waistline accented by a sea mist band and bow. They wore headpieces of circlets of Hoaday green nylon veiling held by a pompon of sheer petals. They earned colonial bouquets of white mums backed with leather leaf. Terry Tamicki, South Bend, served as best man. Ushers were: William McCombs, Walkerton, brother of the bride; Thomas Weirick, Indianapolis, cousin of the groom; Don Park. Muncie, brother-in-law of the groom, and Clifford Cunningham of South Bend. The motmr of the bride chose a teal blue silk brocade, threepiece 'loor length gown with matchi. ; accessories. Mother of the gr< n wore a floor-length two piece rose crepe and brocade gown with matching accessories. Their corsages were pink sweetheart roses. A six tiered pedestal wedding cake, topped with a miniature bride and groom, centt red the cake table, which was covered with a white hand embroidend imported Belgium line: cloth. M -s Susan Wolfe of Muncie. Indi; na, and Miss Nancy Knapp of Milwaukee, Wis., both cousins of the bride, cut and served the cake. The tea table had a wmte lace cloth over green taffeta and was centered with a large arrangement of white snaps, stocks and daisy pompons in a gold and white cherub holder, flanked by white tapers in silver holders. Miss Charlene Stroh. Chicago. presid»d at the silver coffee service and Miss Jane Dunbar. Bedford, Ind., served the punch. The two latter girls are college friends of the bride. The gift table was covered with a white embroidered organdy cloth and skirted with white net over green taffeta. Miss Frances Bowers, of South Bend, and Miss Kamle Smith, of Chicago, had charge of the gifts. Mrs. Claude Wolfe. South Bend, aunt of the bride, registered the guests. Following the reception, the couple left for a trip to the eastern states, after which they will reside at 538 Haney Ave., South Bend. The bride's going away dress was a one piece, sleeveless white brocade, A-line skirt. She wore black accessories and her corsage was from her bridal bouquet. The bride graduated from the Rolling Prairie High School, attended Indiana University, and is presently attending South Bend College of Commerce. Mr. Swick graduated from Central High School. South Bend, and is attending the South Bend-Misha-waka Campus of Indiana University. Two very special guests preent for the ceremony were the grandparents. Mrs. James Wolfe of South Bend, and Mr. and Mrs. George Houser of Silver Lake, Indiana. The grandmothers wore corsages of white glamellias. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Swick were hosts to a rehearsal dinner Friday evening in the River Boat Room of the Paddle Wheyl Restaurant in Walkerton. The couple presented gifts to their attendants. HONORED ON 16TH BIRTHDAY Miss Rosemary Hicks was honored with a birthday party celebrating her 16th birthday, by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Bicks of Walkerton. Refreshments were served and dancing was enjoyed, after which Rosemary oja-ned many lowly gifts from her friends. Mr. and Mrs. dell Fouts of Walkerton, and Mr. and Mrs. Claude Sher -man. attended the State Fail at Indianapolis on Monday. - Mr. and Mrs. Garold Mickel, Linda and Don of South Bend, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Steele and family of Msihawuka. were Monday guests .'of Mr. and Mrs. Max Steele and family at their cottage at BasS Lake. Linda Mikel has just returned from Germany. ; Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Brown of Pasadena, California, were entertained by relatives with a carryin dinner at Shenemnn s Grove on August 23rd. Mrs. Brown is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Willis Olinger. The occasion also honored Frank Fetzer, who will be ninety years old September 6. Guests were from North Liberty, South Bend, Lakevi.le and Niles, Michigan.
