PL J Board News The Board of School Trustees of Polk-Lincoln-Johnson School Corporation, held a regular meeting July 26, 1966. The first order of business was to receive bids for coal, gasoline, and fuel oil for the 1966-67 school year. Bids accepted were from Foster's Petroleum Service of LaPorte for fuel oil at .0984 per gallon; Robert Reese for gasoline at .30 per gallon; Walkerton Oil Co. for gasoline at .306 per gallon, and from the Teegarden Elevator for stoker coal at $14.70 per ton. For other business, the board agreed to rent school cafeteria facilities to the Donaldson Lutheran Church for September 22, 1966. and discussed the proposed 1967 school budget in detail. The budget adopted by the board will present a tax rate of $4.15. The 1967 tax rate represents a .39 increase over the 1966 budget. The increase is due to loss of assessed valuation for the district ($674,806), .15 for restoring the Cumulative Fund levy to the original .75, as determined by the Indiana Attorney General's opinion of December 29. 1965, an increased teachers salary schedule, and due to three new faculty positions added for elementary instruction. New positions were for remedial reading for the elementary and Jr. High level, a second kindergarten teacher, and an additional teacher for Tyner elementary. The board adjourned at 9:30 p.m. The next board meeting will be August 9, 1966, at 7:00 p.m. Lions To See Cubs & Giants The Walkerton Lions Club baseball trip to Chicago Sunday to see the Cubs and San Francisco Giants, still has a few openings. The complete day costs $9.00 and members are urged to get their reservations to Bob Urbin. Denslow Doll or Bill Bouse immediately. The chartered bus will leave from the Elementary School area at 10 a.m. and return right after the games.

N. L. Lions To Picnic Monday On Monday evening. August 8, 6:30 p.m., the members and familiies of the North Liberty Lions will enjoy a family picnic at Sheneman's Grove. Meat and drink will be furnished by the committee, and families are requested to b) ing their own table service. Jacob Drug Set To Move Into New Store The Jacob Drug Store will be moving into their new’ home this Sunday and open for business at that location on Monday morning. Due to the moving, they will close at noon on Sunday in their present location, but will be available for emer^enc'- prescription service during this time. The formal Grand Opening of the new’ store will be held at a later date, but complete operation in the new store, including their much enlarged “Fountain", will be in operation on Monday. STANDARD RED CROSS FIRST AID CLASS On Wednesday evening, August 10. the first class on Red Cross First Aid will be held at the Fire Station at Koontz Lake at 8 p.m. There is a minimum of ten hows required to complete the course with five two-hour sessions. Books can be puchased at the first meeting for 75c plus 2c tax. These First Aid books are required for the course. Have you taken the course? It may help you or your family some day. Anyone interested, please be there the first night. Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose to wear a candlelight gown of silk organza over taffeta, fashioned with a molded bodice, w’ith scoop neckline and the short sleevs were of chantilly lace. The A-line bell skirt flowed slightly in the back. Matching lace pill box, embellished with seed pearls, held the three tier veil of French Illusion. Chamber To Meet August 11 The Walkerton Chamber of Commerce will hold their regular monthly meeting on Thrusday, August 11, at Heil’s Dining Room. The luncheon will be served at 12:00 noon. Mrs. Ronald Long, Hoffman Estates, 111., was matron of honor. Miss Peggy Johnson of St. Clair Shores, Michigan and Miss Nancy Hiatt, Walkerton, sister of the bride, were bridesmaids. They wore identical floor length gowns of powder blue shantung, styled with Empire waistline, modified scoop necklines and sleeveless. Floral appliques accented the front of the gowns. A narrow band of reseda green velvet ribbon encircled the Empire waistline. Their headpieces were crowns of white miniature carnations and baby breath. They each carried a cascade bouquet of white carnations and betonia foliage. Little Miss Valerie Crist, seven year old cousin of the bride from Winamac, was the flower girl. Her floor length gown was of white dacron dotted swiss embroidered with blue flowers. It was stxled in Empire line, puffed sleeves and an A-line skirt, accented by a sash of green velvet, ending in a bow at the back. She wore a matthing green bow in her hair. Mark Parcel, five year old cousin of the bride, of Winamac, carried the rings on a white satin pillow. Serving as best man was the bridegrooms brother - in - law. Barry Diederstadt of Michigan City. Ushers were Bill Hiatt, brother of the bride. Walkerton, an 1 Timothy Daniels, cousin of the bridegroom, of Hamlet. Miss Carol Ann Hiatt. North Liberty, was in charge of the guest book. A reception for 150 guests was hel 1 in the church social room following the ceremony, where the deem was in blue and white. Mrs. Barry Biedertadt. Michigan City, ail'd Miss Joan Redling, South Bind, cut and served the four-tier wedding cake. Miss Jayne Conquest, Muncie, and Mrs. Russell Jimmerson. Walkerton, presided at the punch bowl and coffee service. For a short wedding trip, the bride was wearing a pink voile, trimmed in white lace dress, with white accessories. The bride graduated from the Walkerton High School and attended Bail State University, Muncie, this past year. She is present Iv employed in the office of Bendix Corp.. South Bend. Mr. Sherland. also a graduate of the Walkerton High School, and of Indiana Barber College in Indianapolis. is now employed with Dick's Barber Shop, Mishawaka. The bride's mother wore a blue silk shantung sheath dress with a coat of re-embroidered lace with matching silk piping, and blue accessories. Mrs. Sherland chose for her son's wedding a pink silk knit sheath dress and wore white accessories. Both mothers wore corsages of white orchids.
