K L News Mr. and Mrs. Leo Mehler spent Sunday in Aurora, 111., as guests of Mr. and Mrs.'Donald Zimmerman and children. The Mehlers were accompanied by Mrs. James Holzbach and -children from St. Louis, Mo. Dr. William Carter will be in charge of evening services Sunday at the United Missionary Church. Oregon Township-Koontz Lake Fire Department will hold their monthly meeting on Monday, August 1, and members are asked to be present. Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Lipke attended a picnic near Dolton, 111., sponsored by Mrs. Flora Vezina. There were over 250 attending. Michael Seese, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Seese, is now receiving his basic training of the Army at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Mrs. Amelia Harrison is entertaining Mr. and Mrs. Roy Boughen, of Chicago, for several days. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ferrari of Chicago were week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ferrari. Mrs. Helen Quebbeman returned home from North Bergen, N. J., after spending several days as guest of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard J. Quebbeman. Mrs. May Rundquist, of Downers Grove, Ilinois, spent the week end as guest of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Percy Selkirk. Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Amick entertained Mr. and Mrs. Rollin Devlin and three daughters, of Evansville, Wisconsin, for several days last week. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Newell spent Sunday in Elmhurst, Illinois, as guests of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Sonnenfeld. came home through the state of Michigan. Mr. and Mrs. William L. Allen Jr., of Chicago, were guests of Mr. and Mr.s. Herman Rice. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Kiehn were guests of Paul Dampts where they helped to celebrate the birthday of Herman. Ground breaking ceremonies were held last Sunday evening at the educational wing of the United Missionary Church at the lake. Mrs. James Blackburn, and two sons. Dale and David, are spending this week in Chicago with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Green. Rainbows Have Initiation Three new members were initiated into the Order of Rainbow for Girls at the Walkerton Assembly No. 64, Monday evening, July 25. Under the direction of Worthy Advisor, Geraldine Stickley and her officers, the following were received into the Order: Miss Diana Daube, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Daube; Miss Nancy Stickley. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Stickley and sister of the Worthy Advisor; and Miss Margaret Mechling, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Mechling. The Worthy Advisor announced a swim party for the girls of the Assembly will be held at the George Parks home on August 24th. Mrs. Alfred Drews announced that a School of Instructions wall be held at the LaPorte Masonic Temple on September 10. She also announced that the local assembly had received third place at the Grand Assembly held recently in Indianapolis for their Assembly’ Flag. Miss Lorraine Mullet, past Worthy Advisor and presently Grand Promp’er, gave the three new members the Rose Lecture. Mrs. James Verkier and Mrs. George Parks served punch and brownies for the social hour f«.llowing the meeting.
