gold and diamond fame. Both are carefully syndicated, so no samples were available. After drives through the surrounding country, tiiey flew to Durban. This is a lively city and resort on the Indialn Ocean and ’s i.n the province of Natal. Nearby is the "Valley of a Thousand Hdls" whore 80,000 Zulus live. The Guttmana visited a Zulu Kraal and observed at first hand howl they live. The following day they continued their journey to Capetown, a most beautiful city. Although this is their winter season, the tropical flowers are at their peak. A full day tfip around the Cape of Good Hope brought to mind the thrilling trips of Vasco Da Gama and Diaz as they sought away to the Orient. , From Capetown a flight by uliy of Kimberly and Johannesburg again took the travelers to Nairabi, Kenya, where they made their headquarters while on safaris. The first game hunting trip was in the National preserve near Nairabi where they saw many gazelles, antelopes' wildebeestes, wart hogs, monkeys, lions and zebras. The next day they left for Uganda for three days, landing at Entebbe, and drove to th f< capital, Kampala. There has been so much trouble in Uganda that traveling was greatly restricted and they were stopped twice by guards looking for weapons. The tour guide had a *‘permit of movement'’ so the group was allowed to pass. The destination in Uganda was Murchinson Falls Park. What a trip! It is the main road to Sudan, and is paved for a way, but then it Is a narrow clay road. Most amazing were the people vfliking on this road. After a ride of 150 miles' they arrived at the Murchinson Reserve and Caraa Lodge located bn the Nile River. This is the country of the elephants, hippo-
potamus and the crocodiles. The group took a boat trip up the Nile to see Murchinson Falls from the bottom. The following day they saw the beautiful falls from the top. It is very impressive as tne powerful Nile rushes tliru a 15 ft. cleft in the rocks. After a return to Nairabi, the tour left again, this time for “Treetops", motor ng through the Kenya Highlands to Nyeri. Ther e they tranxf ' 'red to a safari car, and in the kvmpany of a white hunter, they proceeded to the famous Treetops, a miniature hotel, high off the ground in tbe branches of a g.ant tree. Here there is a unique opportunity to observe a wide variety of v|ld game from close range as they come to drink at the water hole under the light of artif cial “moons." From Treetops back to Nairabi, and then Amboseb National Reserve at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro wa 3 the next part of the trip. Amboseli is 410 nrles square and wild life of all k nd abounds. The group returned to Nairabi for a short rest and then departed for Cairo, U.A.R. v’a Addis Adaba. Cairo is fascinating to tourists with the unforgettable trips to the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx, to the museum of antiquities, to the Citadel where Saladin defeated King Richard the Lion Hearted a.nd to the an60 Years Os Service Est 1903 LEMONTREES Aepreiunuifv v Aar Phone CB 4-7771 230 S. c ; ent mosques. The tour ended in Cairo June 29 and the Guttmans flev| back to New York that evening. The trip back was a fitting climax as the visibility was excellent and tney could see the view as they flevj across the Mediterranean, Sicily, Italy and the Alps. They landed in Geneya, Switzerland. This was especially spectacular as the landing was made just at the end of Lake Geneva. The Guttmans estimate they traveled at least 20,000 miles. It was a most interesting, worthwhile and exhausting trip.
