Auxiliary News District Poppy winners in the Third Elistrict of the American Legion Auxiliary were announced at their meeting recently at the post Home. A check for $2 was presented to the unit by poppy chairman, Mrs. Newton Williams for utinmng first place in the poppy window contest and will now be in the state competition. The window was prepared by her husband vjho was honored several years ago for winning the national Poppy Window competition which he had made and des : gned. Poppy poster winner honors were also announced by the local group. First place in the junior high division was awarded Mark Malstaff, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Malstaff Dennis Van Wan. zeele, soh of Mr. and Mrs. Albert VanWanzeele, won a second in the elementary divi-s’on. She announced that a joint meeting wth the Legion has been set for July 28 for the purpose of entertaining Girls and Boy^ State representatives. They each will report of their experiences. Mrs. Groves reviewed ner program for the year and presented her budget as recommended by the executive board. Highlight of the coming activities include honoring the Gold Star mothers in September, a membership d nner in October; a come as you are Christmas party; program by the past presxient parlee; program on Americanism; Legion birthday festivities in March, and Memorial Day plans in May. After the general business of the lodge, the Degree Staff, under the direction of Degree Captain, Mi's. Nellie Purdy, initiated a new member into the lodge. A memorial serwee was held to honor our departed sisters who had passed away during the last year.
