Joint installation ceremonies for the newly elected officers of Orville Easterday Post 189, American Legion, and their Aux. 41 i ary were held Saturday evening at the Post Home. William Flaugher was install, rd as Commander and Mrs. John Grovea as president of the Unit. John (Larry) Groves, retiring commander and Mrs. Harry Malptaff, retiring president, vvpre in charge of the opening. Mrs. Edward Klopfenstein, installing officer for the Auxiliary, was assisted by Mrs. Newton Wil. hams as chaplain; Mrs. William Zimmerman and Miss Elaine Knoutton, sergeant at arms. Others installed with Mrs Groves were Mi's. The Ritual Team from Post 50, South Behd, headed by Ben Fetters. installed the Legion officers. Besides Mr. Flaugher they upre Charles Wooley, first vice commander; John Peterson, second vice commander; Robert Wardman, adjutant; John Groves, finance officer; Harvey Steffen, service officer; Richard Verkier, chaplain; Mrs. Harry Malstaff, historian; James Verkier, sergeant at arms; and Robert Lidy, Linder Schmeltz and Delmar DePoy executive board. Mr. Fetter’s presented Commander Flaugher his gavel and gave the retiring commander Groves his past commanders pin. Groves gave each of his officers for the past year a gift. Distinguished guests present were Mrs. Gegionald Eakins, LaPort e, candidate for president of the Department of Indiana Auxiliary and presently d partment constitution and by-laws chairman. Also Mrs. Gilbert O'Dell,, incoming president of the Third District and presently Ist vise president and Mrs. Groves, district secretary as well as the new president of the local unit.
