Each spring a Thursday and Friday evening was set aside for the two divisions, musical and oratorical. These annual contests were started by Mr. Snethen at tlie 1929 Alumni Banquet. Ho offered cash prizes for the best in several divisions at that time and in a couple of years, it d> veloiped into the two divisions with three categories in each 1 division.
