E Rice of Kokomo; Mrs. Mary’ Metier of Nappanee; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hollett and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Sponweller of Plymouth were Sunday guests of Mias Ethel Btariy They all enjoyed dnner at th® Paddle Wheel and then went to the Bierly home for a visit. The ladies of the group were all in the same class at Manchester Ooll®gc. Mias Bierly. Mrs. Hollett and Mrs. Sponsellor will attend the May Day activities at Manchester this Saturday. SURPRISE PARTY Mrs. David Eiler was a guest of honor of the United Methodist Church Choir and their guests at a buffet supper party in the Colon al Restaurant Sunday evening. After the meal, a song feat was enjoyed with James Payton playing accompaniment on the guitar. Leonard Beaty gave an interesting and humorous talk on Mrs Eller’s activities in her four years in Walkerton. after which Mrs David Lawrence, choir director, prevented Mrs. Eiler vtith an engravod silver platter from the entire cho.r A social hour followed. Rev. and Mrs. Eiler will be leaving Walkerton in June to make the:r home in Papineau, 111. COUPLE OBSERVES WITH ANNDERSARV The golden wedding anniw'rsary of Mr. and Mrs C oyd Smith was observed Sunday afternoon when 150 relatives and fri'nds came to gr-et them at a reception in the Town Club. Out of town guests were present from Mircelius, Michigan: Decatur. Columbia City, Osceola, Plymouth and LaPorte. Guests were greeted at the door by the honored c unle. He v shoulder corsage was white carnations centered with yelb w ros-a bucks and he wore a white carnation centered with a yellow ro«e bud in his lapel A four-tiered welding cake ced in white and yellow decorations centered tha re^shn ?nt table which was ccn-ered with a v|hite cloth and gold hearts unier a white net flounce. Small May baskets in gold with lilies of the valley and white bells were u ^ed throughout the dining room for decorat ion. Many lovely gifts were received. A dinner for the honored couple and members of their family preceded the open house.
