Wenger of the Church of the Brethren bringing the message 7:30 April 15 Laymen meet at A HELPING HAND Sometimes we are prone to critize the individual who is “always having his name in the paper.” We say, for example, that “Joe will do almost anything to see his name in print.” Usually what we are talking about is the fact that Joe gives of his time to direct or work in behalf of civic and charitable projects, that he belongs to clubs and organizations which do worthwhile things, and that he makes some worthwhile contribution to the community in which he lives. Granted, perhaps, some individuals may put forth time and effort for the “publicity' 'involved, but such instances are not so numerous as sideline comment! tors would make us believe. Before we criticise another’s food intentions, it would be wise for each of ua to analyse our own contributions to our community and to our fellow man. How often have we turned away when aomeone was obviously in need of a hetoina hand?

The quality of mercy 13 shown clearly through the life of Christ upon earth. And yet some of us do not clearly understand the meaning of the word. We think of mercy, perhaps, as something to be received from the hands of a master, a king, or a victor in battle. We do not ^realize that too, can evidence the quality of mercy in our daily lives. Look to your dictionary. Rate yourself on such thingsas forebearance; compassion; willingness to forgive and be kind; leniency. Mercy is something you may extend to others as you expect it for yourself. Read your BIBLE daily and GO TO CHURCH SUNDAY
