Cal ho Fence Co., Inc., South nd, was awarded a contract to lace the present Place Park ball backstop and baseline e with heavy industrial chain \ fencing and galvanized pipe >s. Backstop and wings to be x 15' height and baseline to 7' height for a distance of 60' g each side of backstop. Paynt to be made from recently , dished Capital Improvement - , and will replace present de,rated fencing that has been -minding the Place Park diands for a long period of years. 2 The Independent-News Co. granted permission to erect 1 brick front in front of their ent building and to continue line to the new proposed onerv addition being built adja- - t to their present building, king a new overall frontage of feet. New addition will have a pth of 75 feet along Michigan reet. study and consideration as to complete expenditures involved and if found practical would submit the association with a price quotation for their consideration. 1. Branson E. Hiatt, president of the Walkerton Chamber of Commerce, presented to the board recommendations in regards to local parking restrictions that had been favorably approved at a recent Chamber of Commerce meeting. The Chamber of Commerce recommendations as submitted were as follows: change parking restrictions from present 3 hour parking limit to two hour limit in the 600 and 700 block of Roosevelt Road tU. S. 61; include the proposed 2-hour parking limit to the present unrestricted time limit of the 100 blocks of Michigan and Illinois Street; the first half of too block of Indiana Street, and the second half of 300 block of Illinois St., and to enforce time restrictions. Following discussion, the board informed Mr. Hiatt that the Chamber of Commerce recommendations would be taken under advisement for further study and review but assured Mr. Hiatt that present posted 3-hour restricted areas of the business area would be strictly enforced by the local police department. 5. The board was informed of a seminar in emergency preparedness to be held in Plymouth on Wednesday afternoon, March 123, under the sponsorship of the Indiana Department of Civil Defense

The balance of the meeting was spent in general discussb ' with Police Chief C. Ward in regards to traffic, and parking enforcement. Katherine Kramer pled guilt.' of driving without a valid driver license and paid $19.25. The sanu violation by Thomas Cunninghan of Hamlet, drew a like fine. Charles Keiper. Walkerton, was clocked driving at 53 mph in a 40 mph zone and paid sl9 25 for this violation. Roy Mann was arrested by 1 >- cal police for appearing in pul ic in an intoxicated condition and fined $17.25 on his ph’a of gui* y. Failure to yield the rig! of way. resulting in consid< de property damage but slight xlily injury, resulted in Leslie C jble being fined $19.25. Leonard Elder was convicted of driving without license and 1 ned $19.25. David Scott was ticketed nd will stand trial at a later date. He is charged by the local police with reckless Iriving. Governor Branigan has asl 1 for more stringent rules gov ing the point syst m which driving privileges of Indian; torists. Probationary di s points are recommended to no re tuced from 12 points in th • years to eight points in > years. For those over 21 y old, it was recommended * ten points in two years v I be cause for adult drivers t called on to defend their drh privilege. This could help, f properly enforced.
