small s bool. Cloverdale, battled a very talented Indianapolis Tech outfit. Tech. even though not so tall, had about the finest junpTs a team could assemble and the.r fast moving zone defense w.th the high jumping tactics stopped the Clovers from doing much shooting <>n the other hand. Tech wasn't hustling and driving on offense like they can and the result.-. were not too exciting until Cloverdale's surge near the end of the game. Tech definitely’ was the better club and broke a late 50-50 tie to win by seven. 58-51. THIS SET THE STAGE FOR the game that take^ all the marbles. The scoring begun just about as fast as o e would expect with the two hard working defenses Not a lot >f shots were taken, but in the f it quarter a lot of scoring was tone for the number of shots. Tech moved to a 17-15 lead in tills period. They continued to move out on the fine shooting of Mike Price and at

one time in the second quarter, held a 24-16 lead. This b wh-re the big move started. City moved from this point to a 26-2-1 lead as Tech hit a cold streak and City was beginning to get their momentum going. Tlio half found the score knotted at 30 each THE SECOND HAIJ 1 ’ AGAIN was tdie breaking point City began working the boards better, especially by McFarland, who had streaks all through the tourney, both good and bad. Holding Tech off the boards gave the City five more opportunities and thiy really started moving out as they led by ten. 48-38. by the end of ’he third period. WITH THE GAME GOING fast, Tech finally went into their famous press. They didn't use this at all against Cloverdale an i it proved very effective against the Devils, but it came too late A couple of boys were in foul trouble, and not enough time remained for them to really make the pre s change the game. City did'nt really beat this press, bm free throws kept them safely ahead until the final game. AS ALWAYS IS THE CAST, the finals again were very exciting It was appaient that the best team won and now Michigan City is the champ. Next year another 500 plus teams will try to dethrone City and they will be tlie eighth .school aiming for a repeat winner Only Franklin, in 1920. 21 and 22. was a three time successive winner as repeating in Uns state is a very hard job. Congratulations to the <hamps, Michigan City, and good luck to all again next year.
