Walkerton OES A, large attendance was present for the called meeting of Walkerton Chapter Order of Eastern Star, Tuesday evening, March 8, for initiation of new members. Three men. Dr. Earl L inbach, Herman Henry and Le'and Welch received die di gree of the. Order under the direction of the Worthy patron. John McCombs. Worthy Matron, Mrs. McCombs, greeted die chapter with a poem, “Where the Four Leaf Clover Grows." Roscoe Provence, a past patron, was escorted to the east where he took part in the initiatory work. Pro-terns in the officers line were Mrs. Edward Petersen in the station of Ruth; Mrs. AJfred Drews as Martha, and Mrs. D. GiftakLa as prompter. Percy Se.lklrk, a member, was a walking candidate with the initiates. Following tlm initia'ory degrees, th • now members were presented their Bibles by the Bible Ceremony group. Miss Linda Leinbach, daughter of Dr. Leinbach, was a pro-t< m for die leader. Mrs. Robi rt Candler protemed in the station of Mar"ha. Th<. social hour was enjoyed in the dining room where the tables held clever appointments of the professions of the three candidates. Out of town guests includid Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Miner, worthy pah-on an! matron of Warsaw chapter; Mrs. Harriet Ladd and Mrs. Jane Kinney, also of Warsaw; Mr. and Mrs. Del Brown and Mrs. Irma Brems of the Knox chapter. Three Lady residents of Koontz Dake but m-mabers of Chicago chapters, Mrs. William Kuhlwein, Mrs. Roy Newell and Mrs. George Hillis, were also introduced. North Liberty OE^ Mr. and Mrs. James Wolfe, worthy matron and patron of the North Liberty chapter 290. OES, presided at the recent meeting in the Masonic Temple. Mrs. Mary Kuber, worthy matron elect, was given a basket with a floral arrangement, and was escorted to each star point, who read a .erse and added a DoWcr pel tai ng to the station, to the bouquet. She was then es- । corted to the east where Mrs. Wolfe gave her a miniature trav- ! cling bag with appointments suitable for her year's travel on the ; OES road. Elmer Hunt, worthy patron elect, was then escorted east where he was welcomed by 1 Mr. Wolfw who gave him a toyairplane to use in his OES travels this year. They were each given a hearty w Iconic by the menibeis and taken back to their seats. Mr. and Mrs. Oberly, Mr. Wolfe and others spoke to the members. A social hour, in charge of the men, followed the meeting. The last stated meeting of the old term will bo hold on March 22. and public installation of officers will be March 29. PLJ SCHOOL BOARD NEWS The Board of School Tnistr, s of Polk-Lincoln-Johnson School Corporation h-ld a regular meeting at 7 pm. in the office of the supi rintendent of schools, Walkerton. with all members present. Minutes of the February 22 meeting wpre approved as read; a financial report was presented by discussion and allowing of cd by (haccussion and allowing of claims and drawing of warrants. An overnight camping trip to Knox on April 29 and 30 was approved for the GA A girls of the Walkerti n High School. Chaperones will be Miss Patricia G esaman as spon.'^’T. and Miss Tracy Temple as assistant.
